2017 was quite a year for great television, important character arcs, and shocking twists.

As we continue to take a look at the best of 2017 when it comes to TV, our staff members took the time to remember the moments that stood out most to them this year, from shows including Wynonna Earp, Game of Thrones, Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, and more.

Here’s a look at our staff’s most memorable TV moments from 2017:

1. The Death of Sharon Raydor (Major Crimes)

After spending years breaking out of her comfort zone to form a new family with her adoptive son Rusty and husband Andy, Sharon died four episodes shy of the series finale of Major Crimes.

Television viewers expect twists, but they don’t typically include the hero dying before the end with a major villain still on the loose. It’s a tragic and gut-wrenching end to an incredible character as well as a television moment to remember.

2. Prometheus Admits Defeat (Arrow)

My most memorable TV moment of 2017 comes from the Arrow Season 5 finale. Prometheus has Team Arrow trapped on an island laced with explosives. Better yet, the detonator is connected to his lifeline, so if he dies they all die. Oliver Queen, in full costume, swoops in and corners Prometheus on a boat setting sail. He quickly admits defeat and hands Oliver’s son back over to him.

There is but a moment to rejoice when we see Prometheus pull out a gun. He gives the typical villian speech before he points the gun to his own head. There is nothing Oliver can do but watch as he pulls the trigger, killing himself and setting the island up in flames. This is truly the best cliffhanger I have seen in years.

3. The final scene from Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf Series Finale

The most memorable moment for me is the last scene of Teen Wolf. This show has meant so much to me for a long time and it still does. The last scene was important because they were all meeting up for pack business, but also because they established that Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Derek, Malia, and Liam were truly pack.

It felt so sealed, and so important, and so right. It was heartbreaking to watch them walk into the unknown as Scott glanced at the moon. I’d like to think that they’re all hanging out and bonding wherever they are in Teen Wolf land.

Scott McCall: My friends. My pack.

4. The women of Black-ish talking about periods

This moment comes from Black-ish Season 4 Episode 6, “First and Last.” Seeing several generations of women sharing their experiences on something so natural yet generally a taboo subject on TV felt so refreshing and meaningful! And so damn relatable!

5. Wedding plans (The Big Bang Theory)

Another memorable moment was Sheldon admitting to Amy on The Big Bang Theory Season 11 Episode 10 that he wants to have an actual wedding party with her so they can share a proper first dance. This moment is not only my favorite moment of the season but one of my all-time favorite The Big Bang Theory moments.

6. The return of Derek Hale (Teen Wolf)

Teen Wolf Derek Hale

For me, the return of Derek Hale was the highlight of Teen Wolf’s final season. He was a character I fell in love with from the word go. However, after Teen Wolf Season 4, he left town and I was worried he wouldn’t make an appearance in the final season.

Then, BAM! There he was in true Derek Hale, alpha style. His return made me feel like my whole pack was finally complete once more.
