19. Laurie’s dive (The Leftovers)

The Leftovers

In the final season of The Leftovers, a profound Laurie-centric episode ended seemingly in a suicide attempt, with her plunging into the sea. But that not only felt shocking and devastating, but it also felt wrong.

This wonderful character, who had survived the inexplicable loss of an unborn baby, a soul-eating cult, and the throes of depression, had returned to life with grace and humility. For her story to end in resignation felt unjust. Luckily, the writers agreed, and it was later revealed in the next episode that Laurie emerged from the water and lived a long, and presumably happy life.

The ambiguous ending of Laurie’s dive was so memorable because it evoked a guttural feeling that was later — mercifully — turned into relief.

GREY’S ANATOMY – “Ring of Fire” -(ABC/Richard Cartwright) JERRIKA HINTON

While there were a lot of memorable moments from Grey’s Anatomy in 2017, the one that stands out most comes from Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 24, “Ring of Fire.”

Stephanie risking herself and literally walking through fire to save a little girl was simply incredible to watch. Thankfully, Stephanie survived the ordeal, she made the decision to leave her job at the hospital, making a powerful exit for Jerrika Hinton from the series.

Let’s be honest. Many fans have been waiting a long time for this to happen, and the way it does — it couldn’t be more perfect.

On the Suits mid-season finale, Donna suprises Harvey by kissing him, says “I’m sorry, Harvey. I just had to know,” and then leaves the room with Harvey standing there stunned. We’re still left wondering what she found out from that kiss and what affect it could have on their relationship.
