The Resident Adds ‘The Last Ship’ Star Jocko Sims as Controlling Doc

The Resident is giving a face from The Last Ship a break from the sea.

Jocko Sims has landed a recurring role on the upcoming Fox medical drama, according to Deadline.

Sims will play the cocky Dr. Ben Wilmot. Described as “controlling,” the doctor of internal medicine see hope in finding a solution of a medical mystery when he meets a patient.

The Resident takes a deeper look at both the good and the bad of modern-day medicine. The drama centers on a successful senior medical resident as he gets a new student, who is as idealist as he is young.

The Good Wife alum Matt Czuchry will lead as the senior medical resident and Manish Dayal plays the new student. The cast also includes Emily VanCamp, Merrin Dungey, Moran Atias, Bruce Greenwood and Melina Kanakaredes.

Executive produced by Antoine Fuqua, the pilot was written by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi. Phillip Noyce is set to direct.

While he is known for playing Lt. Carlton Burk on TNT’s The Last Ship, Sims’ other credits include Masters of Sex and I’m Dying Up Here.
