9 Things We Want From Supergirl Season 3
As Supergirl Season 3 approaches, fans are feeling an interesting combination of anxiousness and excitement. While many fans still have hope for Supergirl, just as many have concerns following Season 2.
At its core, we know Supergirl can be amazing, so here are 9 things we want from Supergirl Season 3.
1. Continued Care for Alex’s Sexuality and Storyline

During Season 2, Supergirl began exploring Alex’s sexuality, and it was one of the best coming out storylines I’ve seen on television. Alex faced things that so many LGBT fans have gone through and became a source of representation for those fans.
In Season 3, we’d like to see the writers continue to treat Alex’s sexuality with care and honesty. With the announcement that Floriana Lima is no longer a series regular, there are concerns for Alex and Maggie’s relationship. Whatever their story becomes we just ask that it be told well and respectfully.
Additionally, Alex needs to be more than just a love interest. While this storyline is hugely important, it shouldn’t be the only one that Alex gets in Season 3.
2. Let Mon-El Go

Writing off Mon-El at the end of Season 2 was the best thing that could’ve been done for that character. While at times he was funny, for the most part all Mon-El did was take up a disproportionate amount of screen time, belittle Kara, and distract her from both her day job as a reporter, and her super job as Supergirl.
His exit was emotional and really well done. Please don’t bring him back only to drag out this uncomfortable romance for another season. If he returns, let him stick to what he’s good at: jokes with Winn and bumbling through Earth norms.
3. Kara the Reporter, Kara Danvers

With Cat gone for the majority of Season 2, we really lost a lot of Kara’s daily life outside of Supergirl/The DEO. Part of what makes Supergirl so amazing is that she’s not just super; she’s also a young woman with a career and a life and friends.
We want to see more of Kara growing and learning in her career as a reporter, more of Kara trying to blend in as a human, and more of Kara facing the things regular, non-superhero women face in their daily lives.
4. Cat Grant

Speaking of Cat Grant, Supergirl Season 3 needs 300% more of her. If her absence during Season 2 taught us anything, it’s that the show simply is not the same without Cat.
Cat simultaneously brings a gravitas and humor to the show that Supergirl is sorely missing without her.
Cat is a grounding figure in Kara’s life, as well as a constant motivator to become her best self. With the revelation that Cat knows, and perhaps has always known, that Kara is Supergirl, there’s more room than ever to continue exploring their relationship.
Cat brings out the best in Kara and in Supergirl, and we can’t wait to have her back in Season 3.
5. James Olsen & The Super Friends

For some reason we may never understand, James Olsen got shifted to the background for the majority of Supergirl Season 2. We don’t necessarily need the romance that could’ve been between he and Kara reignited, but we need him back in her life.
When James became Guardian Kara practically cut him out of her life, and they both suffered for it.
James was one of the best characters from Season 1, and his friendship with Kara made them both better people. Something just doesn’t feel right about Supergirl when The Super Friends aren’t having fun together.
6. Lena Luthor

Kara’s friendship with Lena was also one of the best parts of Season 2. With the disappearance of Lucy and Cat, and Alex becoming involved with Maggie, Kara needs female friends, and Lena is an absolute treasure.
The writers kept us guessing for most of Season 2 as to whether Lena would turn out to be a villain or if we could truly trust her, but through and through she was there for both Kara and Supergirl.
We want to see where this relationship goes, and how long it will take before Lena learns that Kara and Supergirl are the same person. We also got to see a little bit of Lena and Winn bonding over science during Supergirl Season 2, and it would be great to see Lena become one of the Super Friends in Season 3.
