16 Top Moments from NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8
10. Nell and Anna Partner Up (Season 8 Episode 6)

Anna is relatively new and Nell doesn’t usually get as many chances in the field, so to see them pair up is…interesting, to say the least. And yet, the show treats it as a normal thing, two capable and yet very different women going into the field together.
We want more of that!
9. Deeks and Kensi Play Checkers (Season 8 Episode 9)
There were many moments for Kensi and Deeks this season, tiny moments that made their relationship stronger, but this one from NCIS: LA Season 8 Episode 9, “Glasnost,” stands out because it seems to encapsulate the journey they went through together.
Deeks didn’t make Kensi better with his love or anything like that, she put in the work, and she got herself better, but a little support always makes it easier, and Kensi had that. And it was beautiful to see.
8. Callen Finds Family (Season 8 Episode 9)

It’s beautiful to see G Callen, the loner, the man who didn’t really know who he was or where he belonged, find his real family. And no, family is not just made up of blood, but sometimes, the answers mean much more than you think they mean.
And, in his real family, Callen found something he maybe didn’t have before — peace.
7. Deeks and Granger Have a Conversation (Season 8 Episode 6)
Probably the best thing about Season 8 is that it allowed characters who’d previously had very little interaction to not just come together but do so in surprisingly poignant ways.
Case in point: this conversation between Deeks and Granger, where the Assistant Director delivers the pep talk Deeks needs, complete with phrases like “The only way you’ll fail her is if you quit,” which might sound cliché, but hey, sometimes you need the cliché.
6. Nell and Eric Kiss (Season 8 Episode 18)

For years I wondered: is this happening, are they keeping it a secret, do they even like each other, am I imagining things and a whole host of other things, so to get confirmation that yes, these two really did want to make out, is good.
Getting the make out scene? That’s even better. I’m so used to shows thinking that relationships are not interesting or sustainable, and this is the moment when I realized NCIS: LA is playing with a whole different set of rules.
5. Callen, Sam, and Deeks Find Kensi (Season 8 Episode 15)

The mole storyline lasted forever, and yet it was solved (?) in such a satisfying way that I can almost forgive the show for dragging it out so long.
The highlight of the final episode in this three-parter, is, of course, teamwork and oh yeah, saving Kensi. Callen, Sam and Deeks rarely get to go out in the field just the three of them, but they prove to be a well-oiled machine as they go rescue their girl — and get the job done.

I really enjoyed reading your list and I also enjoy reading your reviews. I do not agree with all of it but I definitely agree with the number one choice of Kensi proposing to Deeks . I am really looking forward to season 9 of this show.
The list was a good idea. I don’t know that I could pick 16 important moments, and while I agree with some of your choices, there are several that I think are too superficial: Kensi dancing (she could just as easily have been a trapeze artist or a professional volleyball player; she was simply undercover and the dancing was only relevant because of the setting), the checkers moment (again, nothing very significant or that hasn’t been said before), anything from any of the “mole” episodes (which were so poorly written they were laughable), and a few others. I would have had a tie for #1: the death of Michelle and the proposal. The proposal–while a long time coming and well-done–will probably cause very little change in the Kensi-Deeks relationship while the death of Michelle has the potential to cause enormous change in Sam’s character and his relationships with others. Basically, Kensi and Deeks have been “married” for several years; this will simply make it official, but since there’s never been any real tension or even a hint of tension in their relationship and their feelings for one another, it’s not much of a change (the drama in their relationship has always been caused by outside forces: injuries, kidnapping, new assignments, new bosses, their mothers). I would have DEFINITELY included that Callen and Anna have (to all appearances) gone “all in” in their relationship because this IS a huge change for his character and has the potential to make for some interesting stories–and is something that’s taken even longer than the Densi proposal to finally happen . The tension in the Callen-Anna relationship is from the characters, not outside forces or events, so I find it more interesting dramatically (and it’s similar in this regard to the Eric-Nell relationship in this way). I didn’t mean to ramble. Anyway, I look forward to your reviews for season 9.
