News, Previews

The first official trailer for Netflix’s original series Marvel’s The Punisher was released today, and it showcases how savage Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) will be.

As you can see in the trailer below, the main focus will be on The Punisher, his devastating backstory, and the revenge he needs against those who murdered his family.

The series will take a look into Castle’s past, showing the heartbreaking moments that shaped him into the anti-hero we see today. It will also highlight how Castle uncovers a dangerous conspiracy that runs within the criminal underworld in New York City.

Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), who we saw sympathize with Castle during Daredevil Season Two, will be back with a significant role alongside some new faces including Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Jigsaw (Ben Barnes).

The trailer is all about blood and guns, so it’s safe to say this will be one of the more violent Marvel series produced by Netflix.

The series is executive produced by showrunner Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal), Jim Chory (Marvel’s The Defenders) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s The Defenders) who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.

Netflix is still playing coy with the release date with more blackouts at the end of the trailer where the premiere date would be shown.
