Emmys 2017: Winners Include ‘Big Little Lies,’ ‘Veep,’ and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

EMMYS, News, This is Us, Veep

It’s one of the biggest nights in television, and this year’s Emmy® Awards felt extra special.

With Stephen Colbert as host, the 2017 Emmy Awards began with a musical number that reminded us of all the reasons we love to watch television — and why it’s sometimes a necessary escape.

The night included amazing speeches, emotional moments, and even an unexpected guest appearance from Sean Spicer to comment on the size of the audience.

This year’s winners include Kate McKinnon, Alec Baldwin, John Lithgow, Donald Glover, Nicole Kidman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sterling K. Brown, and Elisabeth Moss, to name a few.

Julia Louis Dreyfus, by the way, officially holds the record for most consecutive Emmy wins for the same role. Sterling K. Brown won last year for his role on The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Veep won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, Big Little Lies for Limited Series, and The Handmaid’s Tale for Outstanding Drama.

Check out the list of winners below, as well as a few photos from the awards.

  • Gutted Carrie Coon didn’t win (although she should have been nominated for The Leftovers) but not surprised 🙁
