The Mist Season 1 Episode 10 Review: The Tenth Meal
Season finales are supposed to be exciting and satisfying, but The Mist Season 1 Episode 10 is an endless bore. And like most of the season, it doesn’t make much sense.
We don’t find out what the mist is or why it’s in Bridgeville and that’s frustrating. We still do not even know how and why it picks its victims. In fact, there may be no rhyme or reason to why it kills only that it kills out of hunger.
That’s what I got out of it, anyway. Yes, the source material wasn’t very specific about the origins of the mist either, but at least there was some kind of closure, and there was an emotional investment. We didn’t get any of that here.
There is a point when it looks like Kevin is going to kill everyone in the truck, but it doesn’t happen. Instead, we are given a cliffhanger that reminds me of some horror movie I can’t remember the name of.

The most interesting thing this hour is the bizarre end to Nathalie. Who knew you could breastfeed a dead baby? It literally sucks the life out her which was amazing to watch.
Still, it is not a fitting end for anything Nathalie has done this season. She should have faced the people she burned in the church or the people she had Connor kill on their way to the mall.
She should have suffered for her trespasses like she made people suffer for theirs. Instead, she dies an almost happy death with her dead husband by her side and her baby in her arms. You have to wonder if the mist was rewarding her for being its “spokesperson.”
She certainly does not impress any of the mall people when she told them that. Had they not been so focused on Eve and Alex, they might have thrown her out of the mall for being completely whacked out.
But the mall people are poor judges of character.
I appreciate what The Mist is trying to say about not accepting people who are different, but that whole scene lacks the intensity it should have had. I just do not know enough about all the characters to even care, and those I d0 know enough about, I do not care about at all.

Nathalie’s transformation from nature lover to mist messiah is the only full-bodied character of the entire series. If she was the focus of the series instead of Kevin and Eve, the series would have fared much better.
The Mist is one of the most disappointing series of the summer. I had great hopes for this adaptation of the classic King story, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet any of my expectations.
