Jason Rothenberg Talks Shifting Perspectives and the Overall Theme for The 100 Season 5 [Video]
We sat down with The 100 creator and executive producer Jason Rothenberg at San Diego Comic-Con this year to discuss the theme for Season 5, Clarke’s shifting perspectives now that she’s a mother, and whether there would be flashbacks to what happened during those missing six years.
“That Valley where we find Clarke at the end of Season 4 is it, and the people on the ship are gonna want it, people in the bunker when they get out are gonna want it. It’s gonna be a battle for Eden,” Rothenberg teased.
That seems to conflict with his stated theme for the season: Rebirth/Second Chances, but this is The 100. What else could we expect?

The showrunner also teased that now that Clarke has a child, “her perspective has shifted,” and he promised that there’s a line in the premiere for her that almost directly mirrors her last line from the Pilot.
Now that’s interesting.
As for flashbacks, Rothenberg said “most of the season will be told going forward, but we will, early on in the season, unwind and show Clarke as the last person on Earth.”
So, some answers are coming – just probably not all. That’s the way of TV.
