Chyler Leigh Teases Bigger Twists and Time Jumps in The Way Home Season 4
As the fourth and final season of The Way Home approaches, we travel back in time to Hallmark Channel’s first appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.
Chyler Leigh, who plays Kat Landry, sat down with reporters during the convention to discuss the show’s upcoming storylines and where she would like to go next with the Hallmark Channel.
Fellow Hallmark stars Will Kemp and Erin Cahill, who were equally as excited to hear what The Way Home Season 4 was cooking up, joined Leigh for the roundtable interview.

“Your pond is very special,” Kemp, who most recently starred in Hallmark’s The Christmas Chocolatier, teased.
“My pond is very special,” Leigh agreed, referring to the magical pond at the center of this family time-traveling drama. “And the pond will get utilized again this season quite a bit, taking us to two different eras. One that may or may not be starting with a 19 and ending with a 20.”
At the time of this interview, Leigh confirmed the show was “in the throes of pre-production” and set to start filming Season 4 on August 11.
She was particularly eager to delve into the fashions of the roaring twenties: “I started my fittings!”
“I’m an EP on the show too, so I get to see a lot of things that nobody else gets to see. So then I’m like, ‘You have no idea what’s coming for you.’ So I’m excited because we’re doing even bigger things this year.”
Watch Chyler Leigh discuss The Way Home Season 4:
The Way Home cast indeed spent many hours filming exterior shots at the magical time-traveling pond. With shooting on location at a real pond, there come unexpected challenges with the local wildlife.
“If you like water that much and you’re interested in science, you will really come to understand the life cycle of a frog,” Leigh joked. “The best part about it is when you’re doing dialogue, and then all of a sudden you have to pause because the frogs are getting it on.”

Kemp then asked Leigh if the cast ever gets “Holding for Frog” cues from the crew to pause filming, and she responded: “Yes, I actually had to go in and do ADR for it because the frogs were so loud in the background of the scene, and it was an emotional scene.”
“It was for the frogs,” Kemp laughed.
