The Mist Review: Show and Tell (Season 1 Episode 3)
On The Mist Season 1 Episode 3, “Show and Tell,” the mist is still out there, and it is starting to do some damage.
Sure there aren’t big ugly monsters walking around ready to eat people, but what it is doing is far scarier. It’s messing with people’s minds.
Like Natalie’s for example. When the butterfly kid actually turns into a human butterfly, it is gruesome to watch, but Natalie thinks it is the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. She is only in the mist for minutes when the horrible incident takes place, but it was enough time for Natalie’s mind to go completely bonkers.
She was already on the verge of insanity because of her husband’s death, so all she needed was a little push. Butterfly kid’s transformation gave that to her. She didn’t want to die anymore because she saw “god.” It was like her own personal epiphany. Like she had been waiting for this moment her entire life, and the mist gave it to her.

Out of everyone in the church, she is now the scariest one of all because she is the most unstable. She’s been touched by the mist, infected by it. While the others are being affected in different ways, it’s almost like she received a personal gift.
Who wants to make a bet that she’ll share her gift sooner rather than later? Like maybe she’ll grab Connor’s gun and kill everyone. Or maybe she’ll just tear everyone’s eyes out.
It’s always the quiet ones you have to be leery of, right?
It’s a good thing Kevin and company escaped, but how far will they get? Kevin’s been intent on getting to the mall since the very beginning. He wants to be with his wife and daughter, and it’s understandable even if it doesn’t seem like the smartest thing to do.
Kevin only seems to care about himself. He’s putting himself at risk along with Bryan, Mia, and Adrian.

He doesn’t care about Mia; he only hopes she can hotwire the SUV. Bryan is just along for the ride. He’s not going to leave Mia’s side anytime soon. He’s become her protector, and someone he can confide in.
They are two lost souls and they’re getting closer by the minute. Neither of them understands what’s happening, but they understand each other. They both have ghosts they’re trying to hide, but each provides a refuge for the other. Mia knows Bryan won’t judge her and vice-a-versa. They are the perfect couple even if they’re intentions aren’t romantic right now.
Adrian is going along because he’s concerned about Alex, but mostly because he doesn’t want to stay in the same place as Connor.
Connor has no use for Adrian, and it could be dangerous for Adrian if he were to stay behind. Kevin wouldn’t leave him anyway. He’s too much like a son to him. Besides, Adrian is a witness to Alex’s rape, so there’s another reason to keep the kid around.
Things aren’t going much better at the mall. Eve asserts her independence and separates herself from the main group. She doesn’t want Alex anywhere near Jay.
It’s understandable but also annoying. She’s making waves when there doesn’t need to be waves. It’s a tense situation already and her holding a gun to Jay’s head just made it worse.

The main group is putting a set of rules together, so does that mean Eve and her group doesn’t have to follow these rules?
That’s the problem with Eve. She thinks she’s above everything and everyone. There’s nothing likable about her character. I get that she’s trying to protect Alex, but she’s going too far.
Gus and the others let them go, but it’s only temporary. People don’t like when other people do something different, especially in situations like this. The main group will get suspicious, and they’ll end up confronting Eve’s group. Count on it.
The mist is messing with people’s minds, and it’s doing it by not doing anything at all other than sitting outside. It’s starting to bring out the worst in people (like the guy who wants to push people out into the mist if they endanger others), and it’s only the beginning of the horrible things to come.

So far, I do not really like the show. Old Lady is the only person I care about.
