The Bold Type Series Premiere Photo Preview: How Will the Young Women Fair in the Concrete Jungle?

The Bold Type Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2 explore three young women trying to make a name for themselves in the journalism world through Scarlet Magazine while getting down this whole “adulting” thing.

They enjoy lipsticks and sexual positions as much as anyone, but these bright journalists realize when trying to change the world, you have to start somewhere.

First, we follow Kat (Aisha Dee) as she rediscovers her sexuality through her attraction to a woman photographer. While Kat does this, Sutton (Meghann Fahy) thrives in the liberation of her own sexuality. Although she’s mixing business with pleasure, by sleeping with Scarlet’s corporate lawyer, she has bigger things to worry about than who gets her rocks off, such as what exactly she wants to do with her life.

As both of her friends get to have fun between the silk sheets discover who they are, Jane (Katie Stevens), the most serious of the 3 girls, must figure out a way to spill the truth tea of her last break-up and explore her own sexual… needs.

All three young women are empowered, intelligent, and full of opportunity. All they have left to do is figure out how life works.

Has anyone written a book about how to conquer the world as a young, women’s magazine journalist yet? No? Well get ready, this series promises to be just as educational as it is scandalous, exciting, and hilarious.

Episode Description: Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, “The Bold Type” will have a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, July 11. The show reveals a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the global women’s magazine, Scarlet. The rising generation of Scarlet women lean on one another as they find their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Together they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.

In the second hour, “O Hell No,” Kat finds herself questioning her identity as she continues to spend time with Adena. Jane is horrified when she is tasked with writing Scarlet’s sex column – especially when her story turns intensely personal. And Sutton is given an opportunity to advance at Scarlet, but questions if it’s what she really wants to be doing with her life.
