15 Reasons We’ll Miss Sense8
7. The Celebration of Empathy and Diversity
This item acts as a continuance of number 6, in that through Sense8’s exploration of serious social issues effects on targeted communities, the audience was forced to feel and accept the pain other characters were going through – even if they didn’t identify with them.
The Sense8 cast is very diverse, and every one of them understood and accepted the other for who they were and celebrated their differences. This is an important lesson many in the world could learn right now.
8. The All-for-One Choreography
This one probably threw you off a bit. The all-for-one choreography is seen in how all the sensate members are connected.
The camera would start by focusing in on one face and expanding it out until we got all 8 faces in one frame. A fight scene could start with Sun Bak throwing her legs around a man’s neck, and Wolfgang finishing the move by choking him out or throwing him against the wall. These shifts made for beautiful camera work.
9. The Well-Written Stories
What has seemingly become harder and harder for TV screenwriters to accomplish is story-lines that don’t contradict themselves or have gaping holes in the logic that tie the events together.
However, Sense8’s narrative hasn’t experienced this issue. Anytime there could be have been a lapse in continuity, it’s always explained in a later scene. TV shows that put deep thought and attention into their stories always seem more authentic.
10. The Accessibility
It was nice to be able to simply click on Netflix and have the whole series at your fingertips in seconds.
It gave the audience agency to watch the show at their own pace, whether they binged the entire season in 2 days or paced the episodes out for 2 months. The viewer could choose; all they needed was a Netflix subscription, a tech device, and an internet connection.
11. The Soundtrack
I guess it’s hard to believably write a show about a renown DJ without having an amazing playlist to back up her skills. However, even beyond the music Riley played, the music that we’d hear during fights, interludes, or climactic moments themselves were usually perfect for their respective scenes.
12. The Scenery
Speaking of scenes, I couldn’t finish this list without talking about the gorgeous scenery Sense8 would show us.
Whether it was the sunset behind the grass-covered, rolling mountains of India, or the haunting, Icelandic black-sand beaches — the Sense8 audience got to see many breathtaking scenes that highlighted the beauty in every country.
