Orange Is The New Black: What to Expect from Season 5

Orange Is the New Black, Previews

When we last left the ladies of Orange Is The New Black, a prison revolt had begun in reaction to the senseless death of the tiniest yet brightest star in the Litchfield lineup, Poussey.

Premiering this upcoming Friday, June 9, Orange Is The New Black Season 5—which takes place over the course of 3 days—now finds the inmates in control of the prison and ready to make demands in what promises to be a radical change from previous seasons.

“I think the stakes are higher in this season than they have been in a while,” said star Taylor Schilling, who plays resident Gemini and would-be Lingerie Magnate Piper Chapman.

“Just by virtue of the compressed time and seeing people in compressed circumstances, [it] really raises the stakes. It’s exciting to watch, I think for all of us,” she continued.

Kate Mulgrew, who plays former jailhouse Queenpin, ‘Red,’ goes even further, hinting that Poussey’s death is only the beginning.

“There’s just no question about it, it’s moving and another train is moving toward it,” she said in an interview with PopSugar. “That’s what the audience is going to see for 13 episodes. A trainwreck is coming, but who will survive? Not everybody does… I will say that.”

Take a look at the Season 5 trailer in all its dramatic glory and tune in this Friday to see which one of our ladies makes it out alive.
