Scandal: 37 Reactions We Had While Watching “Mercy” (Season 6 Episode 12)
Peus should really know better than to pull one over on Olivia Pope.
Scandal Season 6 Episode 12, “Mercy,” has the Gladiators putting their heads together to figure out a way to defeat Peus and take Mellie back.
How do they accomplish this? By staging a drone attack. The lockdown gives our favorite characters lots of time to interact, stir the pot, and ultimately come up with a solution.
Here are 37 thoughts I had while watching “Mercy.”

KERRY WASHINGTON
1. Ummm, can we be locked up in White House jail? That continental breakfast looks delicious! If you’re not going to eat the croissants, Eli, I will happily take them off your hands.
2. I don’t think Eli likes you kissing his daughter, Fitz! You catch that not so subtle hint that he dropped about Zanzibar?
3. Yep, Eli Pope is definitely angry.
4. Leo, it’s really not all about you. Let Abby feel her emotions. Also, you tell him, sister.
5. Luna Vargas is the only one with her head on straight and no idea about the conspiracy. I want her to lead me through this nightmare Grant Administration take two.
6. Clearly, Charlie and Huck have some things to work out.
7. First rule of Jake’s mass grave site: you don’t ask questions about Jake’s mass grave site.
8. Mellie, I would not use any of those devices that they have just given you, and I would find a way to slip Bridget who “prefers knives” at the earliest opportunity.
9. Mellie, you do really think that “The Mystery Woman” is going to just let you pick your own cabinet members and govern? They’ve invested in this! Here’s hoping the Gladiators come through.

JEFF PERRY, BELLAMY YOUNG, KERRY WASHINGTON
10. Oh man they’re coming after Jake with this “vacancy” aren’t they? They want someone high up in the government.
11. Yep, and they have photos. This is not going to end well.
12. Peus, you are creeping me out with your monotone voice.
13. You really should know better than to go toe-to-toe with Olivia Pope. Especially when she can serve up a comeback about destroying you.
14. Olivia, you were in bed with Fitz, but you’re still worried about Jake’s safety. This love triangle is getting really old.
15. I don’t think Abby can win Quinn back that easily. Abby did almost kill her best friend.
16. Everyone seems too happy about Jake’s resignation. If I were Mellie, I would rather have Jake Ballard as my VP.
17. And the Constitution comes into play. Why do I get the feeling Peus and Mystery Woman don’t really care?
18. Way to shut down the chipper Mystery Woman, Fitz.
19. I love how in crisis mode, the first thing they tell the woman in the room is to “lose the heels.”
20. Abby is not having “The Mystery Woman’s attitude.”
21. The drone is a brilliant idea to get Mellie into lockdown and away from Peus. I would buy that a drone over White House airspace is an issue that has to be taken really seriously.
22. Huck and Quinn arguing over flying the drone is adorable.

GUILLERMO DIAZ, KATIE LOWES
23. It’s easy to forget that Mellie has children because we rarely see them, but her Mama Bear demand for a report about her children is a nice reminder, especially when Peus threatened them.
24. Cyrus brings up the unity ticket. It’s definitely not the craziest idea.
25. It all goes back to Defiance doesn’t it?
26. Eli Pope is really aggravating everyone in the room.
27. Eli Pope’s “Mercy” speech is touching and oddly fitting.
28. Okay, now Eli Pope’s cell looks dark and bleak. Bring back all te croissants.
29. That White House wine cellar is the most awesome thing I have ever seen.
30. This is an episode of epic speeches. Fitz’s bit about “headband women” is very compelling. I also like how Fitz gives “these women” credit. The ending is also sound advice: “Just make sure she loves you, if she loves you, she can be any kind of tornado she wants”
31. Is this how it ends for Eli Pope? With a corkscrew?
32. Jake sees right through you, Olivia.
33. Rejected title for Scandal: “The Princess Saves Herself and All the Men on the Hill”
34. Mellie needed that pep talk! Good to see strong, confident Mellie again.
35. Cyrus is turning down Vice President! I didn’t see that coming.
36. Watching “The Mystery Woman” and Abby in the bunker as Abby announces Luna as VP is so sweet.
37. And she’s going a few thousand feet beneath the Pentagon. Maybe this will teach her that “You can’t take Olivia Pope. Olivia Pope takes you!”
