Riverdale: 4 Moments We Loved and 4 We Had Questions About from Chapter 11: To Riverdale and Back Again (Season 1 Episode 11)

Reviews, Riverdale

Riverdale continues its ever unraveling mystery as we get closer and closer to finding out who killed Jason Blossom.

Riverdale Season 1 Episode 11, “Chapter 11: To Riverdale and Back Again” gives us lies, plot twists, and fancy dresses! Here are the moments we loved and the ones that left us with even more questions than we started with!

4 MOMENTS WE LOVED

1. Veronica tells Archie that she doesn’t have the bandwidth for a relationship right now

Even though they share a kiss later, I really appreciate getting to see Veronica set the terms of their relationship. She makes the very mature choice to put whatever is going on between them on hold for the time being.

Archie has become prone to falling for whichever woman is paying attention to him at any given point. If they want their relationship to last it can’t rushed. Archie has been through a lot, romantically, in only 11 episodes, and Veronica is constantly dealing with her family’s drama.

It would be nice to see them continue to develop their friendship before really exploring the possibility of being in a romantic relationship.

2. Homecoming: The Wardrobe

This “moment” made the list because I am such a sucker for special occasions in my shows, holidays, dances, big events, you name it. If there’s a reason for everyone to dress up, I’m excited for it.

It’s just a high school homecoming dance, but in true Riverdale fashion the wardrobe on Season 1 Episode 11, “Chapter 11: To Riverdale and Back Again” is over the top in a very aesthetically pleasing way.

With a cast this beautiful, they all look ready to walk the red carpet. Veronica sparkles in her customary black, while Betty is a retro vision in her light purple, a-line dress, and Cheryl slays in her family’s signature red.

And this week even their parents get to play dress up; score one for Team Adults! Major kudos to the Riverdale costume department for making everyone look incredible and unique to their character style!

3. Veronica and Archie’s duet

This scene is just really well put together. There’s a lot more going on than just two talented kids singing at the dance. Betty is visibly angry, Cheryl is distressed, and F.P. is getting arrested.

The contrast between Veronica and Archie’s performance and what is going on off stage is strong, which serves to get the audience’s minds going in several different directions within the space of just a few minutes.

4. Kevin dancing with Jaquin

It’s a very brief moment, but a sweet and necessary one. Kevin hasn’t ever really had a boyfriend before and Jaquin’s feelings for him seem to be genuine. Getting to see them share this sweet moment and neither of them having to hide anything is really lovely.

4 MOMENTS WE HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT

1. Nana Blossom’s ring

When Polly and Cheryl find the ring with which Jason had proposed to her in The Blossom’s massive walk in closet, Penelope feeds Polly a story about how she got it back.

In turn Cheryl feeds her parents a story about how she got rid of the ring, when in reality she kept it. Now Cheryl can control the narrative around the ring. She played her parents perfectly and they’re finally beginning to see her value.

What do you think she has planned with regards to the ring? Do you think she believed her mother’s story? What is she hiding and why did she storm out of the homecoming dance?

2. Alice’s awkward family dinner and her past with FP

Riverdale is no stranger to awkward family dinner parties, and this week they continue the tradition.

Ever the journalist, Alice interrogates F.P. but she doesn’t get very far with her blunt approach. He definitely has some interesting information about her past that she doesn’t want him to share.

Ever since we learned Alice has a history with the Southside Serpents, I can’t get enough of this plot line.

These two definitely have some crazy chemistry, were they in a relationship before? What kind of dirt does he have on her? When did she stop being part of the Serpents? I need to know everything about Alice Cooper at this point.

3. Fred walking hand in hand with both Mary and Hermione

This moment is such a neat throwback to Archie walking in with both Veronica and Betty on his arm to a dance earlier in the season. I’m really interested to see how the relationship between these three will play out over the next few episodes.

Will they have put aside their high school differences and be able to continue getting along? Exactly how long have Fred and Mary been separated? It seemed before like it hadn’t been very long, since they’re still technically married, but Archie speaks about it as if they broke up when he was a little kid. Why stay married and apart for so long?

Hermione appears to still have feelings for Fred, but does he reciprocate them? Or is it possible to rekindle his relationship with Mary?

4. Who planted the gun in F.P.’s trailer?

Someone is definitely framing Jughead’s dad, and while the suspect list for Jason’s murder is still quite long, there are very few people who would have been able to plant the gun during the timeline of Riverdale Season 1 Episode 11 “Chapter 11: To Riverdale and Back Again.”

Most of Riverdale’s named characters spend the entire evening at the homecoming dance. Whoever planted the gun had to have slipped in after Archie and Veronica, but before F.P. returned from Alice’s dinner/dropping off Jughead.

My top suspects? Any of the Blossoms, Hal Cooper, or someone paid by Hiram Lodge. Who do you think is framing F.P. and why?
