The Flash Season 3 Episode 15 Review: The Wrath of Savitar | Tell-Tale TV

The Flash Review: The Wrath of Savitar (Season 3 Episode 15)

Reviews, The Flash

The big bad is back on The Flash Season 3 Episode 15, “The Wrath of Savitar” and its not just Savitar, it’s the bad decisions.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone, as the characters tend to make bad choices, but this episode I had trouble finding anyone to root for. I will run down some of the frustrating decisions everyone made.

So, let’s start with Barry. His worst choice was probably proposing to Iris for the wrong reasons. Barry chose to propose to Iris because she didn’t have a ring on in the future when she dies. And because he loves her. He, of course, does not tell Iris this, but Wally does (I’ll deal with Wally later).

Barry is working so hard to change the future and I don’t think anything is changing. The harder Barry works to change things the more they seem to be coming true.

Barry keeps getting upset with his friends for doing exactly what he does! It’s frustrating to watch him think he can handle everything then get upset when others try to do the same.

Wally was the most frustrating character of the night. So much seemed to be happening to him and he would not ask for help. Wally thinks that his speed can get him out of anything.

Even after Team Flash knows about Savitar, Wally sees him again then thinks he can handle it himself. He is so cocky and just speeds away thinking he can save the day. He, obviously, plays right into Savitar’s hand and replaces him in the speed force.

Wally makes all the same mistakes as Barry! He is cocky and thinks he can save everyone!

The Flash Season 3 Episode 15 Review: The Wrath of Savitar | Tell-Tale TV

Wally just got speed this season and has been shown the power of the team countless times. Yet he continues to want to single-handedly save the day.

Cisco vibes Wally to see the future with Savitar, and this makes Wally go tell Iris about the missing ring. Wally seems to be sabotaging Barry because Barry didn’t want Wally (with Savitar) around in case of spying. Wally telling Iris about the engagement is probably why there is no ring in the future.

Caitlin did her share of secret keeping by keeping a piece of the Philosopher’s Stone. Everyone thought it was destroyed but she kept a piece to cure herself.

Caitlin sees so many metas around her that are good, it’s hard to understand why she won’t embrace her powers. She’s seen bad dopplegangers of her friends but she isn’t afraid they will become evil.

Julian didn’t make any terrible decisions. But the explanation of him not wanting Caitlin to see him as Savitar is silly. A good decision was kissing Caitlin!

The last few episodes are leaning heavily on having our characters be possessed by another voice. It’s something I really don’t enjoy watching. In this case, I was unsure if the lips matched up to the timing of the words.

The Flash is just not at its best right now, in my opinion. The episodes aren’t having fun and the drama seems repetitive (we can beat them if we run faster!), or just makes the characters seem stupid.

Quick Thoughts

  • H.R. is my favorite part of any episode lately.
  • Joe being upset by Barry not asking permission bothered me.
  • Is there any way Savitar isn’t one of the team?
  • Its very hard to take the Philosopher’s Stone seriously with Draco Malfoy on the screen.
  • It would’ve been nice to see more of the West’s reactions about Wally.

Allie is a civil engineer who annoys her friends by trying to make them care about shows they don't watch. She is always obsessing over TV shows, watching as much Netflix and Hulu (they have all the good, old teen dramas!), and trying to find ways to entertain her dog while she watches TV. Loves Gilmore Girls, The X-Files, Dawson's Creek, Lost, and way too many shows to list!
