Television’s Top 16 Scene-Stealers of 2016

Atlanta, Best of 2016, Blindspot, Fear the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Lists, Rectify, Scream, Stranger Things, Veep, Westworld

In general, scene-stealers are usually bit parts played by actors who steal the spotlight away from the main characters.

However, through powerful acting or someone with an “It Factor,” scene-stealers can be a lead actor where their performance dominates the entire show.

There are plenty of scene-stealers in 2016 from an array of TV shows. Here are our Top 16 Scene-Stealers of 2016, in no particular order.

1. Darius (Atlanta)

Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) is the chillest dude on Atlanta and is the best friend to rapper, Paper Boi. In addition to having some of the best lines:

Darius: I like Flo Rida. Moms need to be able to enjoy rap, too.

He’s also wise and has a different way of looking at things in the world around us. Atlanta is probably the weirdest new show but it’s also brilliant. When Darius is onscreen, it’s impossible not to watch him and to listen to whatever sage wisdom he’s giving out.

2. Audrey Jensen (Scream)

While Scream the TV series isn’t going to make it on any “best “lists, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) makes the guilty-pleasure show a viewing must. Audrey’s quick-witted barbs and fierce (and sometimes deadly) loyalty to her friends is what makes her a scene-stealer. If you’re looking for more of Bex Taylor-Klaus, check her out on Season 3 of The Killing. She steals the spotlight on there as well.

3. Erlich Bachmann (Silicon Valley)

It would be easy to turn the pothead owner of the Silicon Valley “incubator,” into a caricature, but Erlich (T.J. Miller) is a multi-dimensional character and definitely a highlight on the show. He’s boorish but savvy; confident but hilariously oblivious. Erlich also has a ton of heart and that’s why he’s fun to watch.

4. Lyanna Mormont (Game of Thrones)

With such an amazing cast, it’s difficult to choose just one scene-stealer on a show like Game of Thrones. That is, until Lyanna Mormont, (Bella Ramsey) the ten-year-old leader of House Mormont of Bear Island, shows up in Season 6.

Her words are cutting and direct– she is wise beyond her years.  Lyanna stands in stark contrast to the other young leaders in Westeros. Although Lyanna Mormont only has a bit part, she leaves a lasting impression.

5. Nick Clark (Fear the Walking Dead)

Since the beginning of the zombie outbreak, Nick (Frank Dillane) has been fearless, defying the title, Fear the Walking Dead.

He uses his brain and is an asset to which ever group he is with. He’s complex, self-aware, resourceful, and ultimately kind. Fear the Walking Dead generates a lot of hate but Nick is a compelling reason to stick around.

6. Charlie (Black-ish)

BLACK-ISH - "Who's Afraid of the Big Black Man?" - After a situation arises at work, Dre's views are confronted regarding how black people are perceived now versus when he grew up. He wants to be more open-minded about being a part of his community, and his first step is joining his Homeowners' Association. Meanwhile, Bow wants to spend more time with the kids before the new baby arrives and gets advice from Pops on how to make them want to be around her, on "black-ish," WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12 (9:31-10:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Kelsey McNeal) DEON COLE

Black-ish is one of those shows that has such a strong cast, that it makes it hard to pick out one standout performer. However, Charlie (Deon Cole) is hilarious in every scene he’s in.

He’s a wildcard and we never know what’s going to come out of his mouth. Oh, and he always has concert tickets to John Mayer on his person to pick-up ladies. Never change, Charlie.
