Criminal Minds Preview: Face Off (Season 12 Episode 8)

Criminal Minds, Previews

After the epic episode centered around Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler)Criminal Minds has to continue to step up their writing in order to avoid a slump.

Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 8, “Scarecrow,” seems to be another episode that promises to twist the minds of the viewers, and even the profilers.

More importantly, we need to see how Tara is coping after Mr. Scratch came after her family like that.

Off-screen, Mr. Scratch already went after Hotchner and his son, so he’s making this personal for each of them. JJ’s family, Reid’s mother, no one is safe.

Tara managed to save her brother, but at what cost? The writers can’t ignore the significant impact this will have on her, and on the team as a whole. How can they cope with a serial killer that is set on taking them down by using their families?

Prentiss being in charge now will probably take a big toll on her, too.

She’s responsible for the team directly now, and she’s entered the BAU as the team leader at the worst possible time. If she loses an agent, which is likely due to the foreshadowing in the season premiere, how will she cope with that?

She’s much more emotional than Hotchner was, and despite her management experience at Interpol, this is her family. They all are.

While the case of the week episodes aren’t usually nearly as strong as those involving the overarching story, it’s important that the writers keep some sort of refreshing aspect to the usual episodes, especially because of the season’s declining ratings.
