Frequency Review: Interference (Season 1 Episode 8)
On Frequency Season 1 Episode 8, “Interference,” there is a lot of love triangle drama, a little bit too much of it, actually. It’s coming at us from both 1996 and 2016. Make it stop!
Daniel was growing on me. He and Raimy were cute on Frequency Season 1 Episode 6, but things go south during this hour.
Personally, shipping affairs is not something I can do. Seeing as how Daniel still has a ring, it looks like he is going to propose to a serious girlfriend. This makes it hard for me to swoon whenever Daniel and Raimy kiss in the rain.
We should take things slow with the two of them. It’s not like we really saw them as a couple, so we, as an audience, still need to be wooed. The cute and awkward run ins were a step in the right direction, but drunken visits and sudden kisses are not the way to a shipper’s heart (at least not this shipper).
Gordo: Gordo. Raimy’s non-sexual life partner.
Plus, Kyle seems like a pretty cool guy. He is really understanding when Raimy forgot about their date, and he bonds with Gordo over video games. On top of that, he helps Raimy with her case. Kyle could be a great guy for Raimy. Are you Team Kyle or Team Daniel?
In 1996, we continue the Coach Ted/Jules/Frank drama. While a melodramatic, tiny Raimy is not all that entertaining, her “ways to make Mommy and Daddy happy” is heartbreaking. It also prompts Frank to have a serious conversation with Jules, which leads to the two of them talking about if they would have married each other if Jules didn’t get pregnant. These are the kinds of moments we need.
That scene gives us a glimpse into Frank and Jules’ relationship, and we start to see what they were like when they were in love. Another great moment for the Frank and Jules relationship comes from Frank telling Raimy about how he had to ask out Jules 4 times. It’s just such a cute story.
Slowly but surely, Frank and Jules are becoming a couple that you root for.

The scenes following Meghan around are hard to understand, at least until the very end of the hour where an explanation is given. It would have been better if we did not spend time with Meghan until after we hear (and see) Larissa’s story about her.
This way when we jump to a scene of Meghan in the hospital, we know who she is. She’s not a nameless person talking to a shrink, asking for her cell phone back. This slight alteration would have made things so much better.
Okay, what is up with Dr. Goldberg? I’m actually hoping that he is in cahoots with Deacon Joe (aka the potential Nightingale killer) because otherwise he is a terrible doctor. Meghan recoils from Joe the moment she senses him in the room, and yet Dr. Goldberg does nothing. He does not take her threats seriously at all.
The fact that Deacon Joe can make medical decisions for Meghan makes me think that they are related. It would explain why Meghan has been tormented by him since camp all those years ago, and it would explain why she is still alive. It’s one thing to kill strangers. It’s another thing to do that to family.
