Killjoys Review: I Love Lucy (Season 2 Episode 6)
“I Love Lucy” brings the laughs, but all in all, it’s a disappointing hour. Don’t get me wrong, there are some hilarious moments, like Johnny and D’av trying to take down an old man selling explosives or D’av connecting with Mossy, but it’s not the best Killjoys has to offer.
My main issue with the episode is the case/warrant of the week — Sam Romwell.
His collection is not all that entertaining, and the entire time we spend on his asteroid ship is just meh. It’s not extremely boring, but it could have been a lot more fun.
His bots are strange. I mean it is Killjoys, so strange/weird is normal, but less bots would be better. They somehow become what our team is fighting against, and it’s weird in a not good way.
Then, there’s the fact that Lucy wants to kiss Johnny, and it actually happens. How? By telling Johnny it’s his only chance to kiss a robot.
Why does Lucy need that data, exactly? Also, why does Johnny want to kiss a robot? Wait, don’t answer that.
The kiss comes off as creepy. Plus, that’s not at all what Johnny and Lucy’s relationship is like, and it’s uncomfortable to even think about them in that way, at least it is for me.
The kiss just comes out of nowhere, and it does not serve any purpose other than an attempt at humor.

One of my main issues with our time spent with Sam is that it feels like a waste of time. There are a gazillion questions that need to be answered, and we do not gain much of anything from our time with Sam.
This is mostly a filler episode, but with everything going on, we really can’t afford to waste any time if we want to fully explore everything that is going on.
All the breakthroughs of the hour happen before we meet Sam or after we say goodbye to him.
This isn’t to say that I hate Sam. I don’t have strong feelings on him one way or the other. I just wish we spent our time a little more productively.
Sam: Remember, not everyone has a happy ending, so be happy when you can .
Sam proves to be useful by prompting Dutch to not put off her happiness. This leads her to go be with Alvis, which I support.
I ship Dutch with basically everyone, but after “Meet The Parents,” Dutch and Johnny are definitely my OTP. Actually, I think I’m a fan of most of the pairings on this show, except for Lucy and Johnny.
