Andrew Dabb Talks Mary’s Return and ‘Supernatural’ Season 12 [Video]

We caught up with producer Andrew Dabb at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about Mary’s return, the Winchesters, and Supernatural Season 12!

Dabb said that bringing back Mary doesn’t change the dynamics of Supernatural because this show has always been about family, specifically Sam and Dean.

“I think the dynamics with the brothers — I think there’s an initial kind of shock. ‘Oh my god. Mom is back. What does it mean for us?'”

Once the shock wears off, they’ll start realizing that the Mary that returned to them is a mother who never wanted her sons to become hunters. And she’s about to go on a journey of her own.

“As they get to know Mary more as a person, Mary herself goes through kind of what I think is an interesting journey, in the terms of coming back to this world where her sons are adults. They’re adults doing the exact things she never wanted them to do.”

It’s been 30 years, and dealing with her own inner demons isn’t going to be half of it. There will be hunting, finding out about angels, and getting to know her kids all over again.

We can’t wait.
