Zoo Review: The Walls of Jericho (Season 2 Episode 4)
Clearly, someone doesn’t know that the internet loves sloths.
The writers at Zoo should not have used the beloved meme beast in their latest animal caper. Now I’ll never look at their cute little faces ever again.
Side note: was it just me, or did they find a photo of the meanest looking sloth of all time?
That’s not my only animal issue with “The Walls of Jericho.” The choice to have an alligator going after the team in the sewer feels a bit…untimely. That part is unnecessary, given recent events in the world, and it really leads nowhere for the team. Editing is a good thing, sometimes.
As far as Jamie goes, I really don’t want to see the severed toe. Knowing it exists is really good enough for me.
Jamie’s kill count is up to two. She’s resourceful, that’s for sure.
Now that Reiden Global is back in the game, it feels like the right time for Jamie to return to the fold with everyone else. Her vendetta against the big bad corporation is personal, you’ll recall.
If anyone is going to be the one who takes down that company, it will be the reporter.
Lost toe and murders aside, I’m really not crazy about Jamie’s separate storyline this season. I find myself deliriously bored whenever she pops up on screen.
I just want the Zoo Crew back together.
It seems like that might be a problem though…
Switching gears, Jackson’s struggle to stay human is becoming more interesting each week.
He’s starting to panic about his 5-week timeline. What are the things he needs to do in just 5 weeks?
There’s Abe, who has been Jackson’s best friend and confidant for years. What he needs more than anything is to tell Abe that he’s in trouble. But his fear is taking over, and so is Mitch’s assessment that Abe might just try to kill his “rafiki.”
And then there’s Chloe, who confesses her love to him, despite their animal predicament. Their flirtation has returned just in the nick of time. Zoo had a serious lack of ‘shippable moments. (Unless you’re totally ‘shipping Abe and Dariela, and if you are, I suppose that’s acceptable.)
More than anything, I want Jackson and Chloe to get a happy ending. The series began with Jackson saving her life.
Let’s hope that next week’s episode starts the same way.
Oh, Chloe. She’s finally made herself likable in this episode by going against the grain and being a fun incarnation of Sydney Bristow. (Come on, when she and Jackson walk casually into that party, don’t tell me you aren’t thinking fondly of Alias.)
I can’t see the series moving forward without Chloe, for a number of reasons.
The only one that really matters moving forward though is Jackson. Should Chloe die, and that’s a BIG should, it would absolutely be the catalyst for setting off the “switch” that Mitch used to describe his condition.
We don’t watch Zoo for a bumpy, ugly, serial-killer status James Wolk.
We watch because at its heart, this show is a silly ode to friends saving the world, along with saving the animal kingdom. I can’t imagine why Zoo would suddenly switch gears this far in.
Also, if Chloe dies, who will tell the Crew that Jamie is in Caraquet?
The team is resourceful and quick. They’ve made escapes from tough spots in the past. (Remember, they lived through an animal stampede!)
Chloe will live.
And if she doesn’t, I’ll honestly be shocked.
SERIOUSLY?! Moments:
- Humans share 50% of their DNA with bananas. The more you know.
- Nightmare moles. Those are freaking nightmare moles.
- Mitch has a mole fetish. *shudder*
- They teach you “mickey slipping” in doctor school.
- Mitch’s glasses are indestructible. The tunnel collapsed and they didn’t have a scratch!
- Dariela says sloths and moles sounds like her dating life. Is Abe a sloth or a mole? I say sloth. Thoughts?
- Why was Mitch ever in a scenario where he needed to give a llama a mild heart attack?
- So those wolves ate two of those bad guys, and they just passed over Logan? Were they just full? Did Logan not look tasty in the slightest? Some would argue that he’d have been the first course. Just sayin’.
