Guilt Review: A Simple Plan (Season 1 Episode 6)

Guilt, Reviews

“A Simple Plan” gives me with something I absolutely love — an interrogation scene.

I’m a sucker for a suspenseful and well done interrogation scene, and Guilt delivers. I don’t really care for Luc all that much, but I could not look away. Aside from the character insight we gained of Luc, we also get to see both Gwen and DS Bruno take a crack at Luc. It is absolutely fascinating to watch their two approaches play out.

Gwen, not surprisingly, turns to manipulations and lies to try to get Luc to crack. Meanwhile, DS Bruno works off of what Luc is giving him. You learn a lot about the types of investigators both Gwen and DS Bruno are just by watching them interrogate Luc. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to watching Grace’s interrogations.

Gwen: Luc, there’s something broken inside of you. Do you understand? Because somewhere along the way you began to equate love with deception.

Grace definitely does not come off well during the events at the club. She devises a plan to use her sister to accomplish what she wants. Grace doesn’t care about the implications it could have for Natalie.

The fact that Grace is willing to use Natalie like that means absolutely no one is off limits. Grace is only looking out for herself.

I really hope that Natalie has a lightbulb moment where she starts to question everything that Grace has ever said or done. If Natalie is as smart as she should be (I mean she’s a prosecutor, hello), then she needs to wake up. Also, watching Grace try to fight for her sister’s trust again could make Grace more likable.

Roz, on the other hand, is a delight. It’s fun to watch her and Grace work together.

I’m just not sure how much I should trust Roz. We know she doesn’t tell Grace everything like how she blackmailed Grace’s stepdad. Now the question is, what else is Roz hiding?

I love that there’s this uncertainty surrounding Roz. It would have been great if the same thing happened with Grace. Instead, I spend more time trying to convince myself that there’s a possibility that Grace is telling the truth and not putting on an act.

GUILT – “A Simple Plan” – Freeform/Angus Young

Listen, I understand that Guilt is a “sexy” show. The point has already been proven, so we can lay off the sex scenes, okay? I mean at least make them between characters that are remotely interesting or shippable.

Theo and Molly having sex isn’t all that exciting, although I do get that it was necessary to show that in order to get to the talk about the baby. It’s not like the two of them just watched Netflix whenever they hung out.

While I enjoy Kaley and Patrick’s partnership, watching them have sex is not something I really wanted to do, at least not this soon. I need more time to ship them or at least start to like them individually a bit more.

Patrick was aware that Kaley was going to take back the ledger and tell Finch about him and the house boat, right? If not, well then I don’t care for Kaley anymore. I’m guessing that since Patrick wasn’t there whenever Finch and his goons showed up that Patrick knew Kaley was going to sell him out.

Finch, by the way, is definitely more creepy than charming. It is uncomfortable watching Natalie flirt with him. If Finch was a bit more charming, then it could have been a bit more fun to watch him with Natalie. The birds line really creeps me out.

Suspect round up:

Theo: The most damning evidence has to be that nightmare. Hello, Molly was bleeding/dying in his bed! Plus, there’s the fact he got really angry and violent when Molly said she wasn’t giving up the baby.

Grace: Where to begin? We learn that when she went down to pee the night of the murder, she was gone for almost an hour. Then there’s the, “Now do you like me better than Molly,” question she posed to Finch in the sex tape. It’s looking like Grace was jealous of Molly or was obsessed with being more desired by men than her.

Finch: He has a secret stash of sex tapes on USBs.  Can I confess something to you though? I don’t think he killed Molly. It’s too obvious, and why would he stab her so many times?

What did you think of this episode of Guilt? I really hope we start to see more of Stan. Who would you like to see more of? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
