Wayward Pines Season Finale Preview: History Repeats Itself

Previews, Wayward Pines

It looks like the second season for Wayward Pines is coming to an end.

I won’t lie, this season has been messy. But to add insult to injury, it looks like we have an underwhelming finale ahead of us.

Recent episodes looked like they were setting up for a huge finale, but it looks like even the finale is just setting up the third season.

Though, there’s reasonable doubt if there will even be a third season.

Let’s see what we have. The entire preview is based around citizens rioting, as they’ve found out that only half of them can be saved.

Take note of Mario here.

Last we saw, Mario was in the hospital as he kept repeating the Wayward Pines mantra. Now we see him perfectly sane and reporting for duty.

Frank and Lucy are in the finale as well, but they have managed to screw up every episode and every scene they’ve been in. They just don’t have any relation to the plot whatsoever.

It looks as if the entire first generation isn’t being saved. According to the preview, they’re leaving Frank behind while taking Lucy.

Jeez, I don’t know who made that decision (Theo).

CJ is trying to calm the citizens but firing shots isn’t exactly the best way to do that. I still think CJ has a more villainous part to play in this episode.

Add that to the abbies trying to scale the fence.

It would seem that cryogenic sleep is the only option they have if they intend to survive, except that Yedlin thinks that it’s the wrong idea. I don’t know if he has a better option, but according to Kerry, it’s already done.

Theo isn’t Ethan. Ethan sacrificed himself to save the entire town. I don’t expect Theo to do something like that.

On the other hand, I expect Theo to royally screw up the entire plan and pay for it.

All we can count on is Margaret’s mercy. If the plan succeeds, half of Wayward Pines has to die. If they stay, they all die unless Margaret spares the women and children.

I would like to see Theo be the villain here. The preview sets up Kerry as the antagonist, but are we supposed to believe that Theo has some magical ace up his sleeve?

All in all, I don’t see the finale being any better than the other episodes we’ve had this season. All the traps and pitfalls are there, it’s only a matter of time until the show falls into them.

The synopsis for this episode reads:

THEO MUST MAKE A DECISION THAT COULD SEAL HUMANITY’S FATE ON THE ALL-NEW SEASON FINALE OF “WAYWARD PINES” WEDNESDAY, JULY 27, ON FOX
