Teen Wolf Review: The Beast of Beacon Hills (Season 5 Episode 19)

Reviews, Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf is trying to kill us with feels overload right before the Season Finale of Season 6. In “The Beast of Beacon Hills” there’s nothing left to hide. The Beast is Mason for a portion of the episode before swiftly changing to Sebastian, the original man hidden inside the monster. It’s time to start the countdown. This evil needs to be cut down now (while saving our sweet eyed Mason!)

Let’s talk about it!

The McCall Pack has too many problems to solve at the moment. The only shining light, that gives hope and makes a difference, is that they’re trying to solve it together. Separating into units makes it seem like they’re not, but they’re holding strong. Malia and Braeden are finally taking care of the Desert Wolf because the threat has become even more personal. Kira retreats to the desert and will accept any offer the Skinwalkers have for her, even staying with them after The Beast’s defeat.

Scott and Liam teaming up with Theo is a means to an end, until they have to face the fact that this chimera is another enemy. And Stiles, Lydia, and the Sheriff make it their personal mission to find Parrish because they want to contribute and find the warrior who was born to defeat the darkness. They have fallen into a rhythm where every piece is essential and means the survival of this pack. No matter what comes their way they will survive, united as one.

Mason is still inside The Beast. Despite how strong Sebastian thinks he is, he’s not all powerful and lacks an understanding of many things. Parrish won’t be the one to defeat him (no matter how many rippling muscles he’s sporting.) Mason’s friendship with Liam and the Pack will deliver the killing blow. Talking about killing blows, Sebastian destroys the Dread Doctors without hesitation. They had the means to create him and they definitely know how to end him. He’s cutting any lose ends that will stop his master plan, whatever that is.

Things are different now in comparison to 18th century France. Supernatural creatures rose while he lay dormant. In the McCall Pack’s case they ended up forming an alliance made of family. They are going to do whatever they can to defeat The Beast of Gevaudan. Why? Because they hold something he never had in his heart, love and the will to fight for it.

Now onto our last devastatingly handsome problem, Theo. The Dread Doctors got to him. They manage to peel back that snarky and smirking exterior, and expose a narcissistic little chimera hidden underneath. Theo is nothing more than an entitled brat who thinks he deserves The Beast’s power and Scott’s pack. Things don’t work that way. True power and loyalty as an Alpha comes from dedication, trust, and the betterment of others for no other simple reason than caring for them. Theo carries this quality only for himself.

If he wants what others have then he needs to put in the work to change himself. That is the first of many steps to become a leader and not just a boy whining that this or that belongs in his clutches. If he continues like he’s doing now he’ll end up with nothing and his fears will come true. He’s a failure.

Teen Wolf Season Finale airs Tuesday, March 8th at 9/8c on MTV.

Lyra is a TV and movie enthusiast. It all started on a dark night when she turned on Fox and fell in love with the X-Files. It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
