Grey’s Anatomy: 22 Essential Japril Moments
8. At the wedding, Jackson vehemently objects with a heartfelt speech.
Whose heart didn’t flutter a little bit when Jackson stood up to object to April’s wedding in? I will be honest, I felt sad for Stephanie at this moment, but when words started coming out of Jackson’s mouth, I melted.
Then I waited to see what April would do, but that was the end of the episode. Dang you Shonda! You are such a tease.
9. And the barn door opened, but it wasn’t who we expected.
A month later, the next episode begins with the barn doors opening to…Jackson and April. They are running out the barn, alone in a scene that could only be described as something out of a rewritten feminist fairytale.
Then they get into a car and after a few moments of jubilation April starts to panic. For a moment, and then she tells him to drive the car., there is a girl who knows what she wants. Christina’s reaction says it all:
CHRISTINA: How was I supposed to pretend that what just happened wasn’t the coolest thing I’ve ever seen? You know, I’ve always been on the fence about Kepner, but now I’m not just a friend: I’m a fan!”
10. Date? Elope? It was decided on the side of the road!

After they drive away from the barn, April insists that they stop the car. It’s night. It’s dark and she’s freaking out because they have destroyed two people’s lives to: what date? April points out they are going to have to explain their actions to her parents, his mother, and all of their friends and he starts freaking out and offers:
JACKSON: The best solution is never to speak to any of them ever again!
APRIL: Or?
This why I love Jackson. Even when you realize you have made an epically bad decision, you offer a dose of sarcastic humor that curtails the whole thing. He suggests getting married, because he wants the whole damn thing and they can “get to Lake Tahoe in 13 hours.”
Sort of romantic when you think about it, from a romantic view that is. From a logical one, they’re just insane. Well, she already has the dress and he is in his tux.
11. Then they hid their marriage for almost a month.
April and Jackson exist in a marriage bubble until a non-fraternization policy comes into play. Suddenly, they come clean and their marriage is out there. But they did sneak off into the supply closest while working. (If those walls could talk.)
12. When they realized they come from different worlds (and that’s okay).

Remember in “I’m Winning,” when she tried to teach him about budgeting when he asked her why she was wearing her bathing suit under her scrubs? And come to find out she’d run out of clean underwear? They argued about budgeting, including sending out laundry and paying for four-dollar cups of coffee. Of course Jackson comes back with:
JACKSON: It’s not like I am spending it on hookers or private planes, it’s a latte.
Ironically, when a patient’s life is in danger and they need a plane to get the lifesaving measure to Grey-Sloane, Jackson is there to give them his credit card, which has a credit limit of at least $25,000.
Okay, so this isn’t so much a romantic moment as it is a hilarious moment. The episodes where Jackson and April spent their honeymoon period debating over budgets made me think that this is what must happen after “Happily Ever After” in Cinderella.
