Teen Wolf Season 5 Episode 11 Review: The Last Chimera | Tell-Tale TV

Teen Wolf Review: The Last Chimera (Season 5 Episode 11)

Reviews, Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf returns for Season 5B with a hit right in the feels with its Stilinski drama wrapped up in a good helping of bromance mending. “The Last Chimera” is MTV’s way of putting us through the ringer in unexpected ways.

This isn’t just a show about cute werewolves.

The Good — Bonds Are Being Mended

Despite initially breaking our hearts with their fighting, Sciles (Scott & Stiles) are on the track to forgiveness and understanding. Scott supports Stiles every step of the way and brings the backup needed (that Stiles will trust whole-heartedly), because he knows he hurt his best friend by not trusting him. And Stiles feels his father’s pain so deeply that he sets aside his anger for something bigger than himself. Both boys are stronger together, and it shows with every trial that they surpass. From here on out, it’s about solidifying a bond almost broken by hot shirtless chimeras.

The Bad — Theo & His Pack

The best thing for Theo and his merry band of Chimeras is to leave town. Sticking around is not in anyone’s benefit after all the destruction and strife. It’s like Theo’s using these Chimeras as his backup until he gets what he wants. That’s why he comes to Stiles at the drop of a dime and why he tries to liberate Lydia from Eichen House. His cocky and entitled behavior will be the end of him long before he gets his hands on Scott’s pack. Or before we find out why he needed his sister’s heart.

The Ugly — Stilinski Family Feels

Now this family grabs the ugly spot not because their performance was lacking. Oh no. Ugly stands for all the ugly crying done while watching this at home!

Tissues, wine, and oh wait…more tissues aren’t enough to get over the emotional roller coaster the Stilinski family goes through in this episode. For Stiles, it is hard to move or even breath because of the similarities between his father’s pain and the loss of his mother. Stiles was having small panic attacks where he felt the similarities to his mother’s death and his father’s pain so deep inside him that it was hard to move or breath. It’s in moments like this when you truly see the life and loss he’s experienced to this day. The most beautiful and heart clenching scene is between father and son in his hospital bed. No matter what happens, these two have each other. *commencing with the crying*

Teen Wolf is about family. The Stilinskis and McCalls are blood. The McCall pack is by choice. Theo has no chance of winning, because he deprives his pack that simple option.

Other Observations:

  • Delta Spirit’s song “The Wreck” plays during the scene the pack returns to the hospital to check on Sheriff Stilinski.
  • Saving next week for the Scott/Theo talk that needs to happen.
  • Sheriff Stilinski being teased as the last chimera is a scary tactic that reels us into a false sense of panic before righting us.
  • Despite being comatose, Lydia still warns them about the Sheriff. She’s a hero. A fighter.

Teen Wolf airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on MTV.

It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is.
