Quantico Review: Over (Season 1 Episode 8)

Quantico, Reviews

Joshua Safran promised that “Over” would answer many of the questions posed to date about Quantico.

And it does. For the most part, anyway.

Not only do we see a major plot development, we get to see character development as well; and even have the chance to come up with some suspects for the Grand Central bombing. So, yes. This episode is absolutely fantastic.

First things first: how cute are Shelby and Caleb? Yes, I know — she’s sleeping with his dad, and that’s incredibly weird, and maybe even makes it out to be like there’s zero hope for them in the world. But I’m a romantic, so I usually stick it out for that one couple that has insane chemistry.

And Shelby’s email to Liam stating she is still in love with Caleb makes it all the worth while.

Now the question is: why?

Why is Shelby letting Caleb hurt her for an affair that she’s not even invested in? Her speech about doing things that hurt to the ones you love to protect them seems to be a major reason.

My guess? Liam threatened to resurface Caleb’s scientology past.

That is what he’s referring too, correct? Caleb was once a part of the Church of Scientology and his father “saved him”? Kudos for the writers for not actually saying the word out loud and letting the audience come up with their own ideas. But, I’m pretty sure everyone still thinks it’s scientology.

The scene where Shelby looks at Caleb and just says “I more than like you” gives me feels, and makes me come to the conclusion, I will go down with this Shelby/Caleb ship. Because they’re meant to be, okay? If this Quantico is taking any pointers from Shondaland, then they. Are. Meant. To. Be.

Speaking of meant to be, I can tell you who I immediately have stopped shipping together. Raina and Simon.

The way he just completely ignores Raina and suddenly seems interested in Nimah breaks my heart. It’s like a shiny new object being flashed in a six-year-old’s face, and every single time the camera pans out to Raina, I can’t help but want to hug her. It’s interesting to see how this will result in Simon getting kicked out. My speculation is the twins will be seen together in a public place because of Simon — for whatever reason. Or he’ll mess up an op and say something about one sister that is regarding the other. The possibilities are truly endless.

And lastly, there’s a bombshell. Alex turns herself in.

I am so glad the writers went with this—because how long was Alex going to be on the run, putting all her friends in danger, and getting them shot?

This way, she will be able to perhaps help from the inside, and help take down who really framed her, and stop the second bomb from going off.

Oh yes. There’s a second bomb.

Grand Central was only a dry run. Talk about stakes getting high.

Quantico does return in two weeks, and “Guilty” looks absolutely gruesome. What do you do when you think you have a terrorist in custody who probably has answers about potential bombings?

Torture them.

And gosh, I am excited and oh, so scared to see how Alex and her team gets her out of that that, if at all.
