Cruel Intentions: The TV Show Revival You Didn’t Know You Needed

News

Yeah, you read that right, folks.

We’re pretty sure there isn’t a single person who isn’t flailing in excitement over the news that NBC has ordered a Cruel Intentions revival series (created by the original writer and direction of the movie, Roger Kumble, alongside the creators of Cruel Intentions the Musical , Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin) that could be coming to our TVs as early as fall of next year.

According to Variety, the reboot will center around the 16-year-old son of the late Sebastian Valmont (played by Ryan Phillippe in the original) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon), named Bash Casey. When Bash finds his late father’s journal, he learns of the family legacy that he never knew existed. Looking for answers, Bash trades his small-town Kansas upbringing for a scholarship to the prestigious Brighton Preparatory Academy in San Francisco and soon finds himself in a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.

Uhm, Hell yes. Count me in.

For those unfamiliar with the original film, first of all: It was (and still is) amazing. Secondly, here’s the Cliff’s Notes version of the plot to catch you up to speed and peak your interest:

Annette (Reese Witherspoon) unwittingly becomes a pawn in Sebastian’s (Ryan Phillippe) and Kathryn’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) deliciously diabolical wager of sexual conquest when she writes an article in Seventeen Magazine about how she intends to stay pure until she marries her boyfriend. However, Sebastian gets more than he bargained for as he attempts to woo Annette into his bed.

Now, if you haven’t already seen the movie, go watch it, then come back over here so we can squeal about this revival together in the comments below!
