9-1-1 Season 10 Episode 1 Preview: The 118 Braces for Impact Ahead of the Volcano
Finally, the 118 is back with another wild season-opening emergency on 9-1-1 Season 10 Episode 1, “That Sinking Feeling.”
This season premiere definitely looks like the calm before the storm — or at least as calm as it can be before a volcano erupts in Los Angeles. The trailer leans into the lava of it all. The team has to hop on the roofs of cars to rescue people who are stranded. There’s even a quick shot of Eddie rescuing someone’s dog.
Maddie spells it out when she says, “We’ve sent every firehouse we can without deserting the rest of LA, but, unfortunately, LA has no protocol for a volcano.” The “That Sinking Feeling” pictures seem to fill in some gaps before all that chaos.
Like, in the 9-1-1 Season 10 trailer, May says that Athena fell through a hole in the ground. Presumably, that’s a side effect of the volcano. The photos create a bit of a timeline, suggesting that it occurs after Athena visits May at work (She’s a nurse!), while Athena is working a new mysterious case as a detective.
It also looks like Eddie, Buck, and Christopher are comparing screen times at a family dinner that now, of course, includes Theo. It’ll be nice to see these lower stakes scenes before the volcano escalates things.
Then again, it looks like Eddie finds Buck in the hospital at some point. Thankfully, it doesn’t look too serious. The same may not be true for whatever call the 118 is responding to at an aquarium.
Luckily, it’s only a matter of days until 9-1-1 returns with “That Sinking Feeling” and reveals the context to all of these photos.
