The Diplomat Season 4 Teaser Finds Keri Russell’s Kate Wyler Working to Mend Two Marriages

News

Kate Wyler finds herself on the fence as she confronts inevitable, terrifying realities on The Diplomat Season 4. That is, unless she can find a way to manage the peace between both of her worlds.

Netflix released the first teaser for The Diplomat Season 4, per Variety. The upcoming eight-episode season will premiere on Thursday, October 15.

Previously, viewers saw Kate not be selected as Grace Penn’s vice president. Grace’s choice to select Kate’s husband, Hal, instead leaves some very serious consequences — both for the nation and for Kate.

The teaser shows that The Diplomat Season 4 quickly picks up from Season 3’s ending when Kate discovers Grace and Hal’s plans to steal a Russian torpedo. This discovery has put a damper on the peace she’s made between the United States and the United Kingdom.

With brewing tensions between nations, Grace and Hal are pushing their plans forward, which Kate has to rush to stop. However, this conflict is not the only thing that Kate has to deal with since Todd, Hal’s brother, is now getting involved.

Kate is forced to team up with Todd, creating this uneasiness between the two because of their connections. As Kate tries to mend the broken relationship between both countries, she will have to figure out a way to stop Grace and Hal’s new alliance.

Showrunner and executive producer Debora Cahn also spoke with Netflix TUDUM about the main focus of The Diplomat Season 4. “This season is built on the foursome that is Kate, Hal, Grace, and Todd… They’re two couples strapped together in one car on a crumbling roller coaster,” Cahn said.

“Each of them has a professional, public role that’s upending their ability to function as a married person. And there’s a change-partners thing that happens, where the growing bond between Grace and Hal creates a not-so-functional alliance between Kate and Todd,” Cahn added.

In addition to Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell, the returning cast includes Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah, Rory Kinnear, Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney.

The Diplomat Season 4 is executive produced by Cahn, Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Russell, Peter Noah, and Eli Attie.
