It: Welcome to Derry Renewed for Season 2 at HBO
Pennywise is officially reappearing in Derry for some more terrifying scares with It: Welcome to Derry Season 2. He’s going back in time to one of the bleakest eras of American history to do so.
HBO announced that It: Welcome to Derry has been renewed for Season 2. News about the series was floating up in the air for a while.
However, with It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 now in the works, fans may get a closer look at what Pennywise might be doing during the Great Depression.

The logline for It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 reveals that events will take place in 1935, when everyone, including those in Derry, was struggling. The story will follow a group of bank robbers known as the Bradley Gang, who’ve come across Derry in search of resources.
What the Bradley Gang doesn’t know is that they will be massacred by Pennywise.
During It: Welcome to Derry Season 1, Pennywise tortured and played with a group of kids, including some who would play an important role in the Loser Club’s creation.
Pennywise’s schemes, from simply stalking Lilly on It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 Episode 2, “The Thing In The Dark,” to burning down the Black Spot on It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 Episode 7, “The Black Spot,” caused quite a riot for those in Derry.

Yet, there were some, like Hank Grogan, who wanted to take advantage of Pennywise’s abilities. It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 may incorporate characters with such traits, but there have been no official castings as of yet.
Fans can expect Bill Skarsgård to reprise his role as Pennywise on It: Welcome to Derry Season 2. Only time well tell if fans get a further explanation as to that tease in the show’s opening credits, which saw Pennywise mowing down citizens in the streets of Derry.
The second season may also delve into Pennywise’s time-travelling abilities that were teased on It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 Episode 8 “Winter Fire”. The kids doubted Pennywise’s claims to change their futures, but this season may just prove the claim to be true.
Executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti shared their excitement about returning to It: Welcome to Derry Season 2.

“Continuing to explore and expand on the amazing world Stephen King created is an absolute privilege,” Andy and Barbara Muschietti said. “The support of our partners at HBO and Warner Bros. Television is priceless. Boy do we love our jobs!”
“We are excited to return to the chilling world of Derry and to further expand on Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s horrifically iconic adaptation,” Sarah Aubrey, head of HBO Max Original Programming, added.
“Together with Brad Caleb Kane, they will break new ground in season two, deepening the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans love to devour,” Aubrey added.
In addition to Andy and Barbara Muschietti returning for Season 2, Brad Caleb Kane will also be returning as showrunner. However, Jason Fuchs will not be returning to help showrun It: Welcome to Derry Season 2. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jamie Travis, and Dhana Gilbert will serve as executive producers.
