The Traitors: New Blood Sets Super-Sized Season Premiere on NBC
The Traitors‘ latest iteration has a new title and a premiere date on NBC.
The Traitors: New Blood is the official name of the civilian-led season of the Emmy Award-winning competition reality show. It will make a two-episode debut on Thursday, September 17, at 8/7c on NBC.
New episodes will air weekly and stream the next day on Peacock.
Alan Cumming, who returns to host The Traitors: New Blood at the infamous castle in the Scottish Highlands, shared a video announcement for the premiere date on Instagram.
“In lieu of celebrities and socialites,” Cumming “will open the doors to his now-infamous Scottish castle to 22 everyday Americans, hand selected from a nationwide search resulting in over 60,000 hopeful applicants,” per the show’s synopsis.
As previously reported, NBC originally announced the series as part of its fall programming. However, then, there were far fewer details known about the show.
When The Traitors premiered on Peacock in 2023, it had both civilian and celebrity contestants. Its second season solely had celebrities. Most recently, Love Island breakout star Rob Rausch won The Traitors Season 4.
The Traitors: New Blood will work like The Traitors. Cumming will choose which of the everyday Americans will be Faithful and the Traitors, hiding amongst them. They must work together on puzzles to build the prize fund of — at most — $250,000.
To claim the prize for themselves, the Traitors must eliminate the Faithful. “Under the cover of darkness, the Traitors murder the Faithful one by one in a treacherous spree while the Faithful try to uncover the Traitors and banish them from the game,” per its description.
If the Faithful remain, with no Traitors left, they win, splitting the prize. If a Traitor — or multiple — makes it to the end of the game with the remaining Faithful, they get the whole prize.
