NCIS: SydneySeason 3 Episode 15, “The Collective,” brings Mackey’s past to the present when a Marina is found dead.
The Marine is linked to Mackey’s ill-fated rescue mission in Afghanistan. The photos for the episode suggest that the procedural drama will have to backtrack in Mackey’s past to get answers about his death.
To do so, it seems like “The Collective” will utilize some flashbacks to when DeShawn was starting in the Navy, and Mackey was with the USMC.
It also seems like the old enemy that Mackey crosses paths with could be Angus Sampson’s Lee Myer. That character appears in both the flashbacks and the present, per the episode’s photos. He’s also pointing a gun at JD in one of the photos, which may be a good sign that Lee’s not one to trust.
At some point, the person that Mackey cares about the most will come under threat. The episode could prove this theory wrong, but it feels most likely that said person will be her son, which is terrifying to imagine. Could this be linked to Ghost’s list from NCIS: Sydney Season 3 Episode 9, “South of Nowhere?”
Either way, NCIS: Sydney hasn’t made it easy to understand the photos’ timeline.
It looks like JD and Mackey will go undercover as a married couple at some point during “The Collective.” As someone who has watched a number of crime procedurals, including NCIS: Los Angeles, this could spell good things for JD and Mackey’s romantic future. My fingers are crossed!
