Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Tailored by Fabroni
Every slow episode, seemingly unnecessary detail, and maybe-irrelevant character come full circle on Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 8, “Tailored by Fabroni,” when the identity of the Ferryman is revealed. Viewers finally understand why Grant has been looking so closely into Bloch’s case, even though it was already being handled by the police.
We feel the sympathy and understanding between Dave and Angelo because the relationship with Maria is explained further, making their underlying storyline relevant. And the murder of doctor Parks haunting Angelo finally makes sense.
Every piece of the puzzle falls into place, and now we know who the players are. As the season finale approaches, the show is delivering on its expectations, rewarding fans for having made it through the slower episodes and into the grand reveal.
And The Ferryman Is…

Raise your hand if the moment you heard about the Ferryman, you immediately thought they were talking about a man. Nothing truly pointed to it being a man, but in the back of our minds, we all expected him to be.
But we were all wrong, and thank god we were, because the revelation is far more interesting. Finally getting to see who the Ferryman is and where the name comes from feels like reaching the end of a marathon and seeing the finish line.
FBI agent Linda Grant being the Ferryman is the most perfect execution of a storyline that we have seen on Memory of a Killer since it started. Not only have we been asking for more Grant from the beginning, but we have also been expecting a decent explanation for why this mysterious person was coming after Angelo.
All the questions Grant asked, the comments she made toward Angelo, and the fact that she stuck around even when the case was no longer hers make sense. She stayed so she could witness what her plan was doing to Angelo. She stayed so she could be close to the action and witness the downfall of the man who killed her son.
If Parks’s murder has been haunting Angelo, it is because he knew it was wrong, and deep down, he knew it would cost him. He probably never expected Parks’s mother to be a vindictive FBI agent with unlimited resources, but we are here for it.
Grant makes a promise to her granddaughter that she will make the man who killed her father pay, and she is going to the end of the world to make that happen. She has become Angelo’s biggest nightmare, but maybe now he is realizing it.
Dave, Maria, and a Killer

Not too long ago, Maria mentioned the reason she and Dave didn’t get together when she returned from college was that he was married. However, on Memory of a Killer Season 1 Episode 8, “Tailored by Fabroni,” we learn they used to date in high school.
When Dave visits Angelo and shows his cards, telling him about Fabroni and the missing button, Angelo pulls out a photo of Dave and Maria from Christmas when they were younger. This is an excellent move on Angelo’s part to remind Dave of their history and that he and Leah always considered him family. He is trying to appeal to Dave’s empathy to distract him from the truth.
Nevertheless, Angelo makes a mistake, and Dave discovers the Porsche he’s been looking for belongs to his former father-in-law. Even though he follows every single piece of evidence down the rabbit hole and discovers it leads to Angelo, Dave’s heart and soul push him to do the right thing for Angelo, but the wrong thing under the law.
Dave’s decision to hide everything under the rug and leave the case unsolved comes from the fact that he is still in love with Maria, and he, too, would have done everything to protect her. He understands Angelo’s motivation and sides with him.
Of course, he warns her about Grant. Unlike Dave, Grant doesn’t seem to be backing off. Dave’s comment about the way Grant asks questions pushes Angelo to think back on all the times they’ve met… and it might be what makes him realize who she really is.
Joe, Jeff, and Realizations

With Angelo busy following the Ferryman’s tracks, Joe has to step up and cover for him during a hit. Angelo presents it to him as the opportunity to move up and show what he is made of.
Joe proves, as we expected, that he isn’t a killer. He wasn’t made to follow Angelo’s steps, nor should he want to follow them. While we understand he feels the need to do so because it’s his uncle’s business, there is a kinder soul in Joe that needs to step away from all of this.
Maybe after having failed at the one chance he had, he will realize he isn’t cut out for it.
Meanwhile, Jeff has a realization of his own. He finally discovers that Maria has been lying to him about yoga, and, as expected, his mind goes to Dave. Jeff has spent his entire marriage fighting the ghost of Dave’s past, even more so after the shooting.
But instead of letting this bring him down, Jeff tells Maria that she now needs to make a choice: he is ready to be a father and be in their marriage, but only if she wants the same. And while most of us expected her to run to Dave, she does so, but only to say goodbye.
Even so, nothing ever (beyond the hits Angelo has completed) seems definitive when it comes to Memory of a Killer, so their relationship might change before the season ends.
