Reviews

Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 3, “The G and The OG,” gives us a look at what happens when Manfredi is busy and out of reach. While he is forced to work with Musso again to keep everyone safe, his team is going off the rails and creating more trouble for him.

Meanwhile, Joanne becomes suspicious of her brother’s behavior, knowing there is something he is hiding from her. Because everyone else is simply supposed to follow his orders, they don’t pay attention to his coming and going the way she does.

Could it be that Joanne discovers her brother’s involvement with the FBI?

The weird relationship Manfredi and Musso have this season takes the next step as they go on a road trip to Texas to meet The Watchmaker. Even though Manfredi claims they aren’t on the same team, they find a common enemy in this new character stepping in.

Manfredi would like to simply get rid of him, but Musso is forcing him to do things by the book. Or as by the book as possible, since Manfredi discovers there is a personal connection between Musso and The Watchmaker.

It will be interesting to see how Manfredi and Musso connect moving forward because there is much more the FBI agent is hiding, and Manfredi has a way to always get what he wants.

Three things stand out from the road trip to Texas. The first one is Manfredi claiming he was legit until Musso pulled him in. As much as he wants to claim that, nothing he has done with his team has been legal.

The second one is the way in which Manfredi gets them out of a ticket. His odd charm and connections always come in handy, proving to Musso that he made the right call when he decided to “partner” with him.

And last but not least, Dallas Roberts’ appearance as The Watchmaker is one to keep an eye on. His work has always been impeccable, and playing the villain comes smoothly to him, so his casting is perfect for this season. It’ll be great to see where he takes this character next.

While Manfredi is off to Texas, his group strays from the path and creates chaos that may be irreparable.

Tyson’s constant need to prove he is more than he seems and show off inevitably gets him in trouble on Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 3, “The G and The OG.” Believing he is the number two when Manfredi is out, he drags Bodhi and Grace on a wild goose chase to keep an eye on Cole.

Lucky for him, Grace calls in Goodie and saves the first half of the day. Even though Goodie may seem like a secondary character who rarely adds to the storyline, he actually knows what he is doing. The moment he shows up at the bingo place, he can tell Cole and his group are scheming and knows how to put an end to it.

But the moment Tyson decides to stop listening to Goodie and Grace, he ends up in more trouble than we could have predicted. The big secret of “The Fifty” is revealed to Cole, and the alcohol is gone.

While it is understandable that Tyson doesn’t want anything to happen to the dancer, it is upsetting to watch him betray Manfredi after everything he has done for the young man. However, this exact situation is proof that Tyson still isn’t mature enough to be anyone’s number two and has a long way to go before he can actually live the life he joined when meeting Manfredi.

Tyson strays off the path because he wants to show off, but Cleo strays off the path because she is grieving. However, her coping mechanisms may ultimately bring more chaos to the game.

It is clear that her actions are motivated by grief, but also by not trusting Manfredi enough. From the moment she meets up with Mitch, she makes it very clear that she doesn’t believe Manfredi’s plan is going to work in their favor.

Mitch tries to make her understand that she should trust The General because he does so. It’s simple: if Cleo doesn’t trust Manfredi and goes off on her own to avenge her father, things will get very ugly for her. But if she trusts Manfredi’s capabilities, Dunmire will be defeated.

However, Cleo seems to be trouble not only for the whole operation, but also for Mitch’s livelihood. If she keeps acting out around him, he could end up back in prison.

Even though everyone has gone against his orders, Manfredi isn’t angry at his team (at least for now) for their actions in his absence. On the contrary, the consequences have only lit an even stronger fire under him to end Dunmire.

While Dunmire doesn’t shy away from being violent and doing whatever he sees fit to get what he wants, Manfredi is silently doing the same. He has never shied away from a fight, and he’s not about to start now.

Things can only get more intense on Tulsa King.

Stray Thoughts
  • Who is managing the weed store while everyone is at the distillery and chasing the Dunmire people?
  • Armand missing is only proof that more chaos is about to come. Could it be the New York people who got him? Is this Bevilaqua’s doing? Or was Goodie’s errand to make Armand disappear without anyone knowing?
  • There has never been a scene as funny as Manfredi’s reaction to the driverless car. Stallone is truly delivering some of his best acting on this show.
