Things took an unexpected turn on “I Know What You Did Thirty Three Summers Ago,” when Elsbeth’s foe, Judge Crawford, was murdered on the steps of the court right in front of her.
The conflict between Elsbeth and Judge Crawford felt like it was being built up for a big season finale climax.
Many viewers were likely taken aback when Judge Crawford met his end so abruptly, with two episodes still left in the season.
And viewers weren’t the only ones thrown by the violent and unexpected end to a character whose presence had loomed so large for half of the season.
Elsbeth was pretty shaken by Judge Crawford’s murder and the media memorializing that followed. At the end of the episode, it seemed very much that Elsbeth was having a serious crisis of faith.
Yet you wouldn’t know any of that by looking at the preview material for “I’ve Got a Little List.”
All we know from the preview material is that Elsbeth has a new case. That case leads her to a thrill-seeking socialite with a bucket list that might just include murder. Everything appears to be business as usual.
Still, it’s hard to imagine that the fallout from the Judge Crawford situation is over.
