Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 18 Review: Together One Last Time
Frost, Asher, and Lenox handle cases that are too personal and hit too close to home on Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 18, “Together One Last Time.” Needless to say, this makes for great storylines but creates chaos within the ED.
A chaos that becomes even worse when a patient loses a snake in the ED, and Naomi finds it hanging from another patient’s room. There is never a dull moment in the ED, which reminds us why the show has been going strong for ten seasons.
This episode also prepares us for the battle that’s to come between the nurses and the hospital. Archer placed the idea in Maggie’s mind that she should take the lead, and after her disappearance from this episode and Doris mentioning they are short-handed once again, we know something big is coming.
Asher, Archer, Ripley, and a Missing Uterus

Ripley and Asher’s relationship is currently surrounded by a cloud of awkwardness. This should be her first sign not to get back together with him, but after the trauma experienced with her sister, we can’t predict what will happen.
Truth be told, their relationship has become toxic. Even though Ripley seems to want to change truly, he can’t be what’s best for Asher while he is in the process of figuring out who he can become. She needs something more stable.
That is when Archer steps in. He claims people can’t change, but he has undergone the most change since joining the show, and Asher reminds him of that. He is also the one who has been the most stable support in Asher’s life since they met.
When Hannah’s sister comes into the ED, she trusts Archer to be her doctor because she knows he will do his best and keep her wishes in mind. However, this trust and their undeniable connection push him to get involved in legal matters, allowing Asher to operate on her sister against hospital policy.
While Asher is thankful for this opportunity, the feeling might change once the incident with her sister settles in. Archer tries to take the blame for the hysterectomy, always willing to protect Asher and stand up for her, but she tells the truth.
The case becomes personal for both of them, but it proves that there has always been something brewing between the two of them. The question is whether this will bring them closer or make her pull away.
A Very Human Lenox

After Lenox opened up to Archer on Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 17, “The Book of Archer,” about her mother’s disease and possibly being a carrier, her behavior became understandable, and viewers could feel a connection with her that we hadn’t felt before.
This conversation has repercussions on “Together One Last Time” as she talks to Charles about the burden someone can feel putting their diagnosis on someone else. That is the key to understanding why Lenox acts so robotic and keeps most people at arm’s length.
She doesn’t want to get involved with anyone nor show feelings because she believes that if she is, in fact, carrying her mother’s disease, she would become a burden to those who care about her. While we can understand this feeling because she saw what it did to her father, it seems illogical for a doctor to think this way when she has seen what the support from family and friends can do for her patients.
However, it is seeing that support that pushes her to open up a bit more. And of course, this is done with none other than Hayes. So far, he has been the only one to get Lenox to let her guard down and play silly (or as silly as she can be).
It’ll be interesting to see what happens between them now that she has agreed to go to Myrtle Beach. Now that we truly know Lenox, we hope she can find the happiness she deserves without the fear of what a disease might do to her and her relationships.
Frost Needs Help

After Frost told Maggie the truth about what happened between him and his co-star on Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 16, “Poster Child,” we knew things would change for him. There is obviously unresolved trauma that he isn’t willing to face.
A lot of it has to do with the fact that an older woman groomed him, but it also goes back to the fact that he felt exploited and unprotected by his parents. This is clear when he starts yelling at his patient’s parents for using his situation for likes on social media. He sees himself reflected in that little boy.
No one stood up for Frost when he was little, letting him get in harm’s way, so he is trying to step up for someone in a similar situation. However, he is handling it the wrong way. He is letting his anger and hurt take over, going off and attacking the wrong people.
When Charles asks if he is okay, Frost tells him to stop shrinking him. But, as Charles says and as we can tell from knowing the character, he isn’t doing it as his job but as a friend. The same way Maggie tried to do and Frost pushed her away.
Until Frost is ready to face his trauma, he will continue down a path of anger and attacking the people who actually want to help him.

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 18, “Together One Last Time,” is one of those episodes that explores multiple characters’ storylines at the same time without disappointing us. The show has found a way to let every character grow simultaneously without taking screen time away from others.
The balance Chicago Med has between storylines, characters, and arc development is the one many shows aspire to have but fail to meet. The show continues to prove why it is one of the strongest medical shows on TV right now.
It’s also nice that the episode gives Naomi the space to leave the ED with a triumphant win. It will be interesting to see her character return as a resident.
