The Pitt Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: 2:00pm
The eighth hour has arrived in The Pitt Season 1 Episode 8, “2:00pm,” and with it, there are answers to mysteries and heartbreaking moments.
After last week’s tragic reveal that Dr. Collins likely suffered a miscarriage, her fears are confirmed when she conducts an ultrasound on herself and can’t detect a fetal heartbeat. The moment gets more intense when Robby walks in but does not say a word about what he sees.

She proceeds to continue the rest of the hour as if nothing happened. This is a commentary on many things — specifically how women have to keep going and not show weakness, even when it is something as devastating as a miscarriage.
She seems to be taking a page out of Robby’s book, who has also been pretending to be fine for the past eight hours. However, this facade will break sooner than later.
To add more salt to the wound, Collins and Robby are pulled into a case where a little girl fell into a pool and drowned, and they are unable to restart her heart.
The room is heavy as they deliver the news to the family, and a lot of unsaid words are said between them. What will their relationship be like by the time they leave the hospital? We shall see.
Meanwhile, Dr. Santos had a good hour and is still riding that high. She is concerned about missing medication and decides to use the good time she had by overstepping a boundary. She says to Dr. Garcia point blank that she thinks Dr. Langdon is stealing, and it does not go well.
How will this medication plot line end? I’m unsure. Someone could be stealing medication, but it might not be Langdon.
Maybe she’s wrong, there’s nothing abnormal happening, and she’s just trying to go above and beyond to make up for her rocky start in Pitt.

Despite all the death that circles the pitt, there is a happy ending, a welcome surprise. A few hours ago, Rita arrived with her mother, Ginger, and was overwhelmed as her sole caretaker. She seemingly abandoned her.
Dr. King feels guilty because she told Rita that she deserved a break and thinks she left her mother because of that. However, Rita returns, revealing that she had simply fallen asleep in her car because she finally had a moment for herself.

Dr. King is thrilled and reveals to Rita that they qualify for assistance and it will lift some of the pressure of being the sole caretaker. The pair is relieved and it was a good conclusion for what was painting to be a heartbreaking storyline.
Another positive in the episode is that Javadi is able to solve her first medical mystery and impresses her mother. Initially thinking it was a Crohn’s flare-up, Javadi realizes that it is actually a spider bite and is able to successfully treat her.

After “messing up” in the past few episodes, this is the redemption that she needs and hopefully she is able to show to everyone, specially her mother, that she will be a great doctor despite being the youngest in the ER and having passed out at the sight of blood.
Another positive aspect of the episode is that it does not conclude with a frustrating or intense cliffhanger. It feels like being able to breathe, which is a relief in the world of The Pitt.
