The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 8 Review: Guns and Roses
The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 8, “Guns and Roses,” marks the show’s return after a long hiatus and the end of the love triangle. If you’re one of the viewers wondering what would happen between Robyn, Dante, and Miles, this episode has the answer.
Before the grand reveal, the show throws viewers back into the action the show has gotten us used to in the last five seasons. However, the beginning might be disappointing.
When the little girl is shot in the drive-by and her grandma runs to her, there’s only blood on the top of her white hoodie. While the show isn’t known for being very graphic, there definitely should have been more blood in a scene like that.

That mistake is quickly forgotten as the rest of the action is up to par with what The Equalizer has been doing these seasons.
It is particularly great when Robyn and Dante’s teams work together. This time around, not only does the FBI help raid Salazar’s warehouse and stop the buy, but Dante’s old boss comes face-to-face with Robyn for the first time.
These details help keep Robyn and Dante’s lives intertwined to lead them back together eventually. But they also help keep the action going, allowing each character to do what they’re best at.
While Robyn and Dante work together, Mel can put her experience into play and help bring the little girl’s killer to justice. All while Harry does his computer magic and delivers the goods.
Once again, the show proves Robyn can’t do it all alone.

The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 8, “Guns and Roses,” also brings back the idea that Robyn is a vigilante. It is Dante’s former boss who mentions this again.
Viewers remember it was her who sent Dante away because she no longer believed he could do his job while working with a “vigilante.” Now, it is she who has to work with the vigilante.
However, it feels odd to see Robyn labeled as such. Yes, she does work parallel to the law, but she is the only option those forgotten by the law have.
This case makes it very clear. The little girl’s grandma turns to Robyn because she believes they’re not a priority for the police. If Robyn hadn’t helped, her granddaughter’s killer would still be free.
In the end, it seems even Dante’s old boss can understand why working with a “vigilante” might be favorable at times.

Watching Dante and Robyn work together is great, but most fans will be happy to see them as a couple again. It’ll be interesting to see how Dante transitions back to New York and into a relationship with Robyn.
His working at his old precinct and with his boss might hint that he will return to his former job after the FBI. However, how will that affect his personal and professional relationship with Robyn?
Even though she agreed to work with Robyn this time, it doesn’t seem his boss has changed her mind about the vigilante. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how that is resolved.
Stray Thoughts:
- It is great these days to see that Aunt Vi’s sexuality doesn’t need to be openly discussed. She dated a woman, and now she’s dating a man. While this is part of who she is, it helps to have these details be part of her character and not what drives her character.
- For many seasons, the show has made it clear that the death of her father is still something that haunts Robyn. Having Delilah disrespect this by using his car to impress her boyfriend is very important. Not only does it disturb the memory of her father, but it also disrupts the bond Robyn and Delilah had been able to rebuild after the truth of her job came out.
