Squid Game Season 3 Premiere Date Announced by Netflix
Squid Game will conclude on Netflix later this year.
The streamer has announced that the global phenomenon’s third and final season will premiere on Friday, June 27.
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Head of Content, shared the news — and first-look photos of the upcoming season — at the Next on Netflix event.

Squid Game‘s seven-episode sophomore season premiered on Thursday, December 26, 2024. So, its third season will release nearly six months to do the day of its previous episodes. That gap is much shorter than the three-year hiatus between Squid Game‘s first (2021) and second (2024) seasons.
The final season will pick up right where Squid Game Season 2 leaves off.
Squid Game Season 2 Episode 7, “Chinguwa Jeok,” sees Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) — disguised as Player 001 — double-cross Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) when he and the other competitors before they can get to the control center to end the game forever. The season ends on a sad note when Front Man kills Jung-bae.
According to its description, the show’s third season will explore “the choices Gi-hun will make amidst overwhelming despair. ”

“As the Front Mam plots his next move, the surviving players find their decisions leading to increasingly dire consequences with each round of the deadly games.”
Squid Game‘s director, executive producer, and writer, Hwang Dong-hyuk, shared a letter confirming that the third season will be the show’s final one last year, per Netflix’s Tudum.
“The fierce clash between two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year,” Dong-hyuk wrote.
“I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride,” Hwang Dong-hyuk continued.

As previously reported, Netflix renewed Squid Game for Season 3 in July 2024 — the same day the streamer announced the second season’s premiere date.
Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-ju returned for the show’s second season.
Squid Game Season 2 also featured new cast members, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.
Firstman Studio produces Squid Game. Kim Ji-yeon serves as the CEO of Firstman Studio and an executive producer of the series.
