Preview — The Rookie Season 7 Episode 1: The Team Gains Two New Rookies

The team gains two new rookies and faces two old enemies on The Rookie Season 7 Episode 1, “The Shot.” 

The police procedural’s Season 7 premiere has the characters focused on the prison break on The Rookie Season 6 Episode 10, “Escape Plan.” With Jason Wyler and Oscar Hutchinson still at large, stress levels are high. Naturally, Nolan worries about Bailey’s safety.

The newly-released trailer for The Rookie‘s season teases that Bailey will open up more to her husband about Jason. The footage also gives special attention to the new rookies, Miles (Deric Augustine) and Seth (Patrick Keleher). 

There’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse at Detective Graham, who is also a new character this season, portrayed by Ivan Hernandez. The photos for “The Shot” suggest that most of Hernandez’s scenes will be opposite Shawn Ashmore. It’s always great to see more of Wesley Evers on The Rookie. 

Interestingly, the promotional details for the season premiere don’t reveal whether or how the series will address Aaron Thorsen’s absence. As previously reported, Tru Valentino exited The Rookie at the end of Season 6.

Alternatively, the photos and promo videos reveal quite a bit about where Chenford stands on “The Shot” and however much of Season 7 is featured in the trailer. Excitingly, the exes are embracing a bit of banter again. They’re even wagering on who can train the better rookie. 

All of that and more awaits The Rookie fans when it returns with “The Shot” on Tuesday, January 7, at 10/9c, on ABC.

Now recovering from a gunshot wound and feeling the effects of his age, John and the team welcome two new rookies and continue the hunt for two dangerous inmates with very personal vendettas following their prison escape.
