Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Reviews

Last time we saw Carisi on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 26 Episode 8, “Cornered,” it was obvious he wasn’t okay after being held captive at a bodega and witnessing someone get shot and someone assaulted. Even though he wanted to pretend that everything was okay, the signs of his upcoming breakdown were there.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Season 26 Episode 9, “First Light,” returns from hiatus with a Carisi who must change his approach during the trial when the suspect changes his plea. Will this trigger him, or will he be able to remain calm and collected as the trial continues?

Even though Kelli Giddish said goodbye to the show as a series regular, she is back for another guest appearance on “First Light.” Truth be told, Amanda Rollins should have remained a regular character in the series, while so many of the new faces remained a revolving door.

Her return makes us believe she is trying to keep a close eye on Carisi to make sure he doesn’t have a breakdown at work. However, this seems inevitable if we pay close attention to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit history. The characters go through a traumatic event, pretend to be fine, and then break down in the line of work.

Carisi will probably not be safe from this ongoing formula. Hopefully, with Rollins and Benson’s support, he can overcome what happened to him.
