Lucky Limited Series to Star Anya Taylor-Joy on Apple TV+
Lucky, a new limited series starring Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, Furiosa), is coming to Apple TV+.
In addition to starring, Taylor-Joy will be an executive producer on Lucky (via her personal banner of Ladykiller Films). This is the first TV series she has starred in since Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit in 2020.

The series is adapted from a 2021 novel of the same, authored by Marissa Stapley. Lucky (the book) is a thriller that follows con artist Lucky Armstrong (Taylor-Joy’s character). After pulling off a million-dollar heist, Armstrong and her boyfriend plan to start a new life before “things go sideways.”
Lucky — living up to her name — soon discovers she has a winning lottery ticket, but if she tries to cash it, she’ll be arrested. The novel ranked on the New York Times best-seller list and Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club, which is how it’s making its way to TV.
Witherspoon will executive-produce Lucky through her company, Hello Sunshine, alongside Lauren Neustadter. Her producing credits through the company include Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, which she currently stars in.
The Lucky series follows Taylor-Joy’s character, “who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past,” per Apple TV+’s logline

Jonathan Topper (co-creator of Banshee and a writer on Apple TV+ series See) and Cassie Pappas (a writer and producer on Apple TV+ science-fiction series Silo) are serving as co-showrunners of Lucky, on top of also being executive producers.
“Hello Sunshine continues to do a fantastic job of championing women’s voices and I’m thrilled to be joining the team alongside Jonathan, Cassie, and Apple TV+ to bring Lucky to life,” Taylor-Joy said in a statement.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this compelling series – based on Marissa Stapley’s fantastic novel – to audiences around the world,” Witherspoon said.
The series does not have a scheduled release date at this time.
