Landman Season 1 Episode 7 Review: All Roads Lead to a Hole
Landman Season 1 Episode 7, “All Roads Lead to a Hole,” mixes family drama, new relationships, and a sense of community while Tommy’s cartel troubles keep the tension alive. There are some funny and heartfelt moments, but the pacing feels off, and a bit of filler doesn’t add much. Because of that, viewers are split on how they feel about the story’s progress.
The Norris family takes the spotlight as they try to fix their broken relationships while dealing with the craziness of life in the oil patch. Cooper just left the hospital, setting the stage for what happens in this episode.
Ariana picks him up and decides to let him crash at her place. Her reasons for doing this come from feeling lonely and guilty about what happened between Manuel and Cooper, making her seem selfish and clueless. While she wants some company, she’s ignoring the fact that keeping someone around with a target on his back is pretty dangerous.

Cooper and Ariana’s relationship is a classic example of young, impulsive love full of intense feelings but not built on anything solid. Even though Tommy warns him, Cooper sticks with Ariana, mostly because he’s infatuated rather than thinking things through.
Their moments together feel innocent and hint at unresolved issues, primarily because Ariana seeks comfort and a real connection. The episode shows their relationship as sweet but suggests it won’t last, especially with that morning kiss, which feels more like they’re trying to fill emotional gaps instead of being an actual romantic moment.
Angela and Ainsley bring some much-needed fun as they head to a local nursing home. In a conversation, Angela’s focus on material things raises questions about how she feels about Tommy. But their unusual way of bonding by bringing crafts, games, and drinks to brighten up the lives of the elderly residents creates a heartwarming scene.

At first, the nursing staff isn’t too keen on their plans, but Angela and Ainsley’s energy is hard to resist, and they get a tentative invite to return. This subplot shows the contrast between Angela’s self-centered views and her moments of genuine kindness, adding more depth to her character.
Tommy’s story isn’t moving forward. Monty hangs around like a creepy shadow, throwing new opportunities at Tommy while dragging the crew deeper into their mess with the cartel. Even though this part is essential to the bigger picture, it feels stuck here and overshadows the more light-hearted character moments happening elsewhere in the episode.
Ryder Simpson, played by Mitchell Slaggert, adds fresh energy to the cast. Ainsley has a flirty encounter with the quarterback at a patch party that brings some laughs and sets the stage for possible drama later on. But there’s also a sense of trouble brewing for the Norris family, as it looks like some unknown threat is following them, hinting that things might get darker soon.

Even though the episode has some funny and touching moments, it has difficulty keeping up the energy. Some scenes feel like filler and don’t add much to the story, leaving the cartel conflict and family issues feeling underdeveloped. The humor is nice and gives us a break, but without any significant confrontations, the episode feels slow and a bit lackluster.
“All Roads Lead to a Hole” has some fun moments and mildly digs into the characters, but it doesn’t quite deliver the excitement or flow that Landman fans are used to. It sets up some interesting conflicts and relationships for the future, so here’s hoping the next episodes make the most of that potential.
