‘Poppa’s House’ and ‘NCIS: Origins’ Receive Full Season Orders at CBS
Get ready for more laughs with Poppa’s House and more crime-solving with NCIS: Origins! CBS has given the freshman comedy and drama full-season orders.
The latest addition to the NCIS franchise made its two-episode debut with NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, “Enter Sandman / Enter Sandman Part 2,” on Monday, October 14. The Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.-led series debuted with Poppa’s House Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot,” on Monday, October 1.
Per CBS, NCIS: Origins‘s premiere received 9 million viewers with seven days of multiplatform viewing. Poppa’s House premiere received 6.41 million viewers.

“NCIS: Origins has added a brilliant new dimension to the NCIS franchise with an origin story of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and a cinematic ’90s experience that features distinct characters, stories, and crime solving,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said.
Poppa’s House excels with the dynamic father/son chemistry between Damon and Damon Jr. and their family-inspired stories that bring this comedy to life. These shows fit seamlessly into our Monday night lineup while resonating with viewers on CBS and Paramount+,” Reisenbach added.
NCIS: Origins is a 1991-set NCIS prequel series that stars Austin Stowell as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Mark Harmon on the mothership series.
Harmon narrates the series where “Gibbs starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office, where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks,” per its logline.
NCIS: Origins also stars Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote. David J. North, Gina Lucita Monreal, Mark Harmon, and Sean Harmon are executive producers for CBS Studios. The series returns with NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 6, “Incognito,” on Monday, November 11, at 10/9c on CBS.

Poppa’s House stars Wayans as the “legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son,” per its logline.
Wayans Jr. stars as his son, “a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.” per its logline.
Poppa’s House also stars Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson. Dean Lorey, Damon Wayans, and Damon Wayans Jr. executive produce for CBS Studios. The network will air the all-new Poppa’s House Season 1 Episode 4, “School Days,” on Monday, November 11, at 8:30/7:30c.
This announcement comes on the heels of CBS giving Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage a full season order last week.
