Elsbeth kicks off its second season with a murder at the opera on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 1, “Subscription to Murder.”
On the season’s first case of the week, Elsbeth and Kaya investigate the murder of a philandering finance executive who is found dead after attending the opera. Elsbeth quickly zeros in on Phillip Cross, a hardcore opera fan, played by guest star Nathan Lane, as her prime suspect.
As is generally the case on Elsbeth, the mystery is not who killed the victim but how they did it. In this case, the key to the mystery seems to be a ringing cell phone. But what is the phone’s connection to the case, and how will Elsbeth use it to expose her suspect’s guilt?
Elsewhere on the episode, Elsbeth is now a permanent fixture in the department after working with Captain Wagner and Kaya to expose who was actually behind the corruption that initially brought Elsbeth to New York.
Now that the real bad guy, Noonan, has been revealed, the three must navigate the scandal’s fallout and the changes it brings to the department.
