Preview — Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 4: Couple’s Costumes and Apple-Bobbing
Halloween takes over Abbott Elementary for a frightfully fun, costume-filled episode.
Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 4, “Costume Contest,” emphasizes costumes this year with an elaborate contest for the students and staff to compete on stage in front of their peers.
Janine and Gregory are stoked. This is their first Halloween together, and they are confident they can nail the couple’s costume.

In reality, the couple’s incredibly niche homage to Jurassic Park doesn’t scream “we’re a couple,” and unfortunately, it causes even more confusion than Gregory’s previous Sully Sullenberger costume did.
Other staff costumes are a little easier to identify.
Melissa dresses as a cute guinea pig, her new obsession this season, thanks to the class pet. Mr. Johnson dresses as Jimmy Butler as he helps Ava judge the Halloween costume contest, who always nails the niche Marvel superhero reference — first with Storm and now with Blade.
We love our secret superhero nerd and her devotion to the bit!

Barbara shows up to the school day as a harmless kitty cat.
That said, the parents find nothing harmless about her yearly apple-bobbing tradition. It turns out that forcing kids to dunk their heads into buckets of water to try to eat the same apples isn’t considered hygienic these days.
We know Barbara stands firm in her beloved teaching traditions, and it is safe to assume she won’t take these complaints lightly.
When it comes to an Abbott Elementary Halloween special, we are always in for a treat!
