Preview — 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 3: The Three-Part Season Premiere Event Concludes
On 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 3, ” Final Approach, ” Athena asks Bobby and the 118 for help landing the plane.
It was never a question of whether Bobby would return to the 118 after he quit but how that would occur. In perfect 9-1-1 fashion, the reunion comes amid a three-episode emergency arc.
Though 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 1, “Buzzkill,” introduces 22 million killer bees as the inciting incident for the chaos, “Final Approach” feels so far removed from that threat. Perhaps it’s because most of 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 2, “When the Boeing Gets Tough…,” takes place in the air — on a plane with a giant hole.

With Hen as acting Captain (Gerrard survived his fall but may have a concussion), the 118 — and Brad, who pretends to be a firefighter on TV — races to assist Athena. It’s all very meta and very 9-1-1.
The team tries to clear a highway so that Athena can land the plane as safely as possible. Athena’s phone call in the promo video suggests she’s less optimistic about her odds. Unlike the heartbreaking voicemail she leaves on Bobby’s phone on the previous episode, Bobby is on the other side of the line to boost morale.
In what could become one of 9-1-1‘s most epic romantic moments, Bobby stands on top of the firetruck as he tells Athena to tell him that she loves him in person. The plane’s landing will likely be rough with all its technical issues, but the (hopeful) reunion between Athena, Bobby, and the 118 family will be worth it.

Athena’s only chance of surviving and saving everyone on the flight is to attempt to land the plane before it crashes and call on the 118 for help.
